Hanoi – circuit information

The 2020 F1 season will see the arrival of Vietnam as the latest new round of the world championship calendar.

F1’s first Vietnam Grand Prix was announced in November 2018. It will take place on a 23-turn, 5.607 kilometre track based on streets in the country’s capital city, Hanoi, based near the My Dinh National Stadium.

The Hanoi street circuit has been designed by veteran F1 architect Hermann Tilke with input from Formula 1 Management. It will incorporate a purpose-built section around the pit and paddock area.

The first part of the lap is characteristed by airs of tight corners leading into long bends. A long, high-speed stretch runs from turn nine to 11, which is intended to facilitate overtaking. The drivers then tackle a series of quick bends at the end of the lap before returning to the start/finish straight.

The inaugural Vietnam Grand Prix has been given an April date on the 2020 F1 calendar. It will host the third round of the championship.

The race is being promoted by the Vietnam Grand Prix Corporation which is run by Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup.
