An ongoing poll on the Autosport forums shows the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix is the most popular of the year so far. Fans gave it an average rating of 7.7 out of 10.
At the opposite end of the scale the Malaysian Grand Prix, round two was voted the least popular. Unsurprisingly the two races with the most overtaking proved the most popular – Bahrain and Australia – while ‘strategy races’ failed to win over fans.
In the years since FIA President Max Mosley famously suggested that Formula One races should be thought of being more like “chess matches” it seems the idea is yet to find any favour with the fans: overtaking, for them, is racing.
