Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso’s indiscretions in practice at the Hungaroring have left them 11th and 15th respectively on the grid.
The last time we saw such a grid was at Suzuka last year when Schumacher started 14th, Alonso 16th and Kimi Raikkonen 17th. Raikkonen won from Giancarlo Fisischella, followed by Alonso with Schumacher seventh.
It promises an exciting race tomorrow but will the urgent need for the drivers to make up places be outweighed by the fact that the Hungaroring is lousy for overtaking? Some of the GP2 drivers managed it in today’s race, but then, they were able to at Imola and Magny-Cours as well – which were virtually no-overtaking zones for F1 cars.
Here’s hoping we get a rare humdinger at the Hungaroring.
