The debate over how Michael Schumacher should be remembered as a driver rumbles on and even reached Westminster this week.
When Labour MP for Leicester Keith Vaz congratulated Schumacher on his “outstanding career” in an early day motion, opposition Tory MP Bob Spink fired back with the following:
I don’t think he should be a role model at all. People diving in football is one thing, but what he did is worse because when he was on the racetrack he would often put other drivers at risk.

I knew Early Day Motions were used for some fairly strange things, but MPs commenting on a racing driver’s career? That’s got to be a first. Personally, I’ve got more sympathy with Keith Vaz than Tony Spink, but Spink does have a point as well.

I am so glad Michael Schumacher is back, has since he left formula 1 has been mighty boring, i have watched all his races since 1991 and now he is joining up for Mercedes GP Petronas i am certainly not going to miss them, i wish him luck and success for his new career again in formula 1 and get plenty of victories with great trophies and of course dominate the scene to claim more World Championship titles. He is not to old, but the oldest wisest best driver in formula 1.
