First order of business in the new year for an F1 fan is the hike to the Birmingham NEC for the Autosport show.

As ever F1 Racing have a splendid F1 display on – this year it’s a re-creation of the Monza start line with eleven cars representing each time.

OK, most of the cars aren’t actual 2006 chassis, and there aren’t the 2007 paint schemes to check out as there used to be, but it’s still a fine attraction.

Damon Hill was on hand to open the show on Thursday and took a moment to answer questions from the floor. When asked about his past F1 teams he remarked that Alain Prost, ?â?ó?óÔÇÜ?¼?àÔÇ£gave away nothing?â?ó?óÔÇÜ?¼?é?Ø and that Jacques Villeneuve, ?â?ó?óÔÇÜ?¼?àÔÇ£stole my chicken!?â?ó?óÔÇÜ?¼?é?Ø

He reckoned the lighter side of Heinz-Harald Frentzen never came across well to the public. ?â?ó?óÔÇÜ?¼?àÔÇ£He was so funny – he had the driest sense of humour.?â?ó?óÔÇÜ?¼?é?Ø

Have a look at our pictures from the show below but, of course, there’s no substitute for actually going. The event is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday.
