Mika Hakkinen took his second DTM victory of the year – but this time there’ll be no question of him being given half-points as he was at the Lausitzring.

In fact he probably deserve double points after cunning strategy propelled him into a lead which he narrowly held over Mattias Ekstrom in the dying stages.

But Bernd Schneider’s failure to score propels Ekstrom to the top of the championshiop table.

Paul di Resta put his recent poor results behind him with a return to the podium, taking third position on merit but aided by having shed success ballast from his two year-old Mercedes.

Fourth place for Bruno Spengler keeps the Canadian in the championship hunt as well.
