Rubens Barrichello will start what could be his final F1 race this weekend wearing someone else’s helmet.
Barrichello is wearing the helmet colours of Ingo Hoffman, a Brazilian stock car driver who recently retired.
Hoffman was tipped for F1 glory in the seventies but only managed six appearances, failing to qualify on three occasions. He featured in his home race in 1976 and 1977 and in the second scored a career-best finish of seventh, one place away from scoring a point.
He later drove for Ron Dennis in Formula Two before going stock car racing. He won 11 championships in the hugely popular Brazilian series, the most recent in 2002.
Barrichello is not the only driver using a special design this weekend – Sebastian Vettel is wearing a one-off helmet design as well. Here are a few pictures of Barrichello wearing his helmet in practice this weekend:

Love it, it’s simple and attention grabbing (as yellow and red are).
Not too far off what I’d pick as a base crash helmet either (red/yellow for china, red/white for Hong Kong, red/white/blue for GB, blue/white for Scotland)

I am surprised that a driver who could bring home more points than his teammate, could face losing his seat.
Hoping its not his last.
