I know they are both on 1 point, but using the countback system, shouldnt Hamilton be firmly tenth instead of tenth equal, as he has a 7th place finish while Bourdais only an 8th?

hell, should McLaren faced obstacle from year to year?? WhY FIA ALWAYS LOOKING FOR TROUBLE WITH MCLAREN TEAM??EVERY MCLAREN ACTION ALWAYS GET WRONG IN FIA EYES. HOW WITH THE NEW TEAM?? THEY COME FROM ZERO TO BECOME HERO? DIDNT THIS THING CURIOUS EVERYBODY?? BY REJECTING PETRONAS REPORT AND DOING THE FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I CAN SAY IT UNFAIR ESPECIALLY TO BIG TEAM AS FERARRI AND MCLAREN. STUPID FIA AND SILLY REGULATION!!!

He has half of a 7th place which is less than a 8th place, just using logic here.

Oliver: I disagree… the short race means he earns less points for his finish standing, but that standing itself persists the same…
So, if Button ends the championship tied in points with someone, he won’t have half a victory here, his victory will worth the same for that purpose…

Sorry mate, you’re right. I confused myself reading two pages at the same time :-)

Daniel all humour, anyway..since its a point, Bourdias scored the point first.

I think it will go until the bitter end for Ferrari and Force India. Come on Maranello, you can make it!

I understood man! Perhaps I expressed myself badly, but that joke would be a serious issue under the medal system…

With the medal system, the FIA can just bite a chunk off it before presenting it.

I don’t have access to the figures, but, when was the last time Ferrari failed to score points in the first 2 races?

Was the Malaysian Grand Prix the first race since Australia 1991 that only half points were awarded?

Yes, I posted some details on this in the forum section.

Further to that, the stats I posted on the forum bit were (in the hope that someone might be able to add/correct):
Off the top of my head, the only red flags after the first two laps of the race (ie when a race can’t be restarted) since the start of 1994 have been;
Malaysia 2009 – heavy rain, race not resumed, half points awarded
Brazil 2003 – accident – over 75% completed, race ended
Canada 1997 – Olivier Panis in the wall – over 75% completed, race ended
Japan 1994 – heavy rain/Brundle ran into marshal – race resumed, times combined
San Marino 1994 – Ayrton Senna crash – race resumed, times combined
The last time half points were awarded was Australia 1991 when the race was stopped after heavy rain. Back then though, with the 10-6-4-3-2-1 points system, only two drivers would’ve got the actual 0.5 point, whereas today with the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 system three drivers did.
Would the times combined (aggregate) option still have been the case today if the race had resumed, or have they come up with something less hard to follow?

@sulzerpower
The race would have just restarted under safety car in stopping order (ie. Button, GLOCK, HEIDFELD, Barrichello, HAMILTON, etc.). The lapped cars unlap themselves and the race would restart with the winner the first to cross the finish line on the last lap (or at 2hr limit) as normal.

Kind of a shame that, for all their pace, both Williams and Red Bull have only 3.5 and 1.5 points to show for it.
And the WCC looks quite unbalanced all of a sudden…Brawn and Toyota effectively a long way ahead of everyone else who have just small change for points…

I’m not too sorry to see Brawn GP doing so well , after all they have worked hard last year , and are now getting something back , but it is not doing too much good for Rubens by having Button , who after all is a pretty avarage driver , beating him. So much for his recent claims that he could have beat Schumacher if they had been allowed to race . Will be interesting to see what his excuse is now.
