
Racing under floodlights: yes, the safety implications are questionable and running 1,500 lights each pumping out 2,000 watts of energy is not the most environmentally friendly way of hosting a Grand Prix.

Yea. I feel they should alternate between a night and day race every year. The track looks stunning in daylight.

Its harder to get great pics with less light but I still love the contrast of the the night time against the cars.

The energy usage of the floodlights is small beans compared to the carbon footprint of the F1 circus as it travels around the world.
And that is small beans compared to the carbon footprint of hundreds of thousands of fans travelling to see Grands Prix.
So no GP is going to be environmentally friendly, ever.
Oh well…
