The first two F1 practice sessions at Suzuka were disrupted by heavy rain. This was a blow for the eight F1 drivers who haven’t competed in an F1 race weekend at the circuit and badly needed time to acclimatise. But it should make for an unpredictable qualifying session tomorrow.
Kamui Kobayashi made his first appearance in an official F1 session, substituting for the unwell Timo Glock and Toyota. Red Bull and Renault are sporting some new sponsorship stickers – and the latter have gotten round to taking ING and Mutua Madrilena off their team clothing as well.
Here are some dramatic pictures of the cars kicking up vast clouds of spray at the fabulous Suzuka circuit.

Great pics as always. Has that shark fin on the Force india always been that shape? It looks slightly strange!

Nice pictures (as usual) !
I love rainy day pictures ! The lighting is much more interesting than plain sunshine.
And I especially like the red backlight, so photogenic !

Great pics as always, I have just one question though, what new sponsors do Red Bull and Renault have?

Not sure, but perhaps Keith’s referring to 7-11?
But they’ve had that since Singapore: link

Red Bull have Singha:

It’s just beneath the cockpit aperture.
And Renault seem to have a new one along the flanksof the nose, but I can’t write the name!

It’s pronounced Megafon.
I saw that sponsor on the show at Russia, the one where they had the F1 car with 3 seats.

The pictures are beautiful, but the cars are ugly!! I think the 2005 spec cars were the best looking.

Do you think the marshal picked it up so that Force India didn’t get a team penalty for speeding in the pit lane?

If you can imagine the Toyota without the shark fin then it looks gorgeous – very rakish.
