Amusing to hear Crofty at SKY say things like that, as if we would be all confused if he had just said 7 hundredths. It has to be specified that it is 7 ONE hundredths. (could it be two?)

Anyone know why that is? Is it common English?

I think it’s just to be precise, so that no stickler misunderstands seven hundredths (seven one hundredths as in 7/100) to be 1/700 (one seven hundredths).

But then why doesn’t he say seven one tenths, or seven one thousands?
