Ooh gosh, Sutil’s pace is right up there but his woes with luck continue:(
MigueLP
14th March 2010, 17:41
i think thi is unconclusive because the fastests laps were done by the end of the race not many drivers were completly alone and free to do hot laps or with small problems

It just shows how sutil stupid is.
1) ruined the race for himself and kubica
2) he pushed in the end of the race while kubica was saving engine :)
Someone should hit him in the empty head :)

Wow, Alonso’s pace at the end really was pretty damn good!
MigueLP

massas pace wasnt as good or better because of that problem near the radiators or the endplates

I’ve said it before but Alonso said he was setting up car for the last ten laps so he could launch an attack no Vettel. He had great pace but that time of planning really helps. He’s an exceptionally clever race in my opinion. It’s also a big boost for Ferrari to see that kind of pace.

Alonso deserves the win,he was consistently fast!

Interesting to know, neither of the Mercs lapped below 2 mins!

That is strange. Neither of them even posted a lap time quick enough to be in the top 50.

Michale and Nico are 11th and 13th. The Mercedez is really really slow!!!

14th March 2010, 17:55
How can the Mercedes be slower than both Torro Rossos and both Force Indias, and Barrichello? If they had the pace, why didn’t they use it sometime or another? If it is because of savinf tyres, engines etc. then F1 isn’t worth watching anymore. It was a procession, not a race.

IMO, the Mercedec cars don’t have the same edge that they had last year. Although, we have to consider the fact that this was Schumi’s first actual F1 race in 3 years. I think that the fact that he finished in 6th is pretty good and might indicate that he’ll be much better throughout the season even with the current car. As for Rosberg, well, I didn’t expect more from him in the first place.

Maybe Fernando was getting as bored in the car as KIMI used to be, so he just got into going fastest laps to have something to do.
Button was between Webber and Schumacher in the last part of the race, so his speed might have been a little hampered by that.
Schumacher was not exactly going fast by then (keepig Button back?) and Rosberg was suffering from the wake of Vettels car.
For me it is especially interesting to see Alguersuari up there with his time. I did not expect the Torro Rosso to be that quick.

Hi Keith, excellent coverage over the weekend! Thanks very much!
Do you know what the Ferraris and Vettel’s lap times were through the last stint? I’m interested in the comparison of the long run pace of Vettel vs Alonso before Vettel’s problem and then what Alonso’s pace was once he got past Vettel? The question is was the Red Bull a match for Ferraris long run pace or were the Ferraris effectively getting held up by Vettel? I hope they were a match!
Obviously in the first stint on the softs Vettel was faster, but what was the story in the second stint?

These laptimes are not correct…
Sutil only reached the first corner, so how can he have the 2nd fastest race lap???

As far as i know, when Alonso finished pasing Vettel, he asked to his engineer for permision for “having a bit of fun” driving, so is when came all his fast laps….anyways very consistent and far away the others times…
Just enjoying the car, the track and the victory ;-)
Great work Keith, Thanks.

Well firstly I’m a bit saddened that the new graphics that FOM are using didn’t make laptimes clear – not that they ever did, it was always selective but… 9 below 2mins? Only saw 4 in TV coverage – probably my bad, but well, we’ll see. Ditto pitstops. Was really juiced about these new superfast pitstops we would see. Oops, some random stopwatch timer that generally started at around 14 seconds as the cars hit the blocks. I have no idea what it meant.
Secondly, Sutil. I think he is a fast and hard racer. He’s doing a great job for FI and I am willing them both to make the podium this year. To the nay-sayers, re-check your Interlagos footage showing Trulli going in hot and going wide BECAUSE SUTIL HAD TO BACK OFF FOR THE CAR IN FRONT – um… good driving by Sutil. Not by Trulli.
Alonso was fast. But ALL the drivers & teams bar the new guys ran a protectionist profile. They lost to Ferrari. Lesson in there. Trust the drivers and car.

the pitstop times being shown on tv were pit entry to pit exit (control line to control line). I too would prefer to see stationary time only.
