The track
Built in 1991 the Circuit de Catalunya holds the Spanish Grand Prix for the 20th year in a row.
It’s a venue the teams now well as it has always been a popular venue for testing. But with testing more tightly restricted this year the teams only spent four days at the venue this winter.
While the track has had some of its faster corners cut back since 1991 at least the race now attracts a much larger crowd thanks to the popularity of Fernando Alonso. He became the first Spanish driver to win his home race in 2006.
The weather
Not for the first time this season, rain may affect this weekend’s race. See the forecast below for more details:

i hope todt pushes to get the last corner before the main straight back, and kill that useless chicane.
It’s time to undo all the wrongs the mosley administration did.

Forgive me if I’m mistaken but wasn’t it the drivers who asked for the chicane?

No, the drivers asked for the Nelson chicane to be removed because it was to dangerous.

Ah Spain.
They may have one of the most exciting drivers, but they have the pair of some of the most uninspiring, unexciting and just plain boring tracks of the calendar.

On the contrary, this is one of the best tracks to drive on racing sims. Well before that turn 1 chicane anyway…

Sorry if this is an inappropriate place for this info, but I’m traveling and have sporadic access to the enet and wanted to get it up before this race:
For the first four races…
If you assign a point for each place on the grid and in the finishing list, to include 1-24, and count them equally, you will have the following comparison of teammates.
AVERAGE RACE AND QUALIFYING ADVANTAGE OVER TEAMMATES
1. Kubica……16.5 (over Petrov)
2. Rosberg…..10 (..Schumacher)
3. Barrichello..6.5 (..Hulkenberg)
4. Glock……..6.25(..di Grassi)
5. Sutil……..6 (..Liuzzi)
6. Kovalainen..4.75 (..Trulli)
7. de la Rosa…4 (Kobayashi)
8. Button……1.75 (Hamilton)
9. Webber……1.5 (Vettel)
10. Massa…….1.5 (Alonso)
11. Alguersuari. .5 (Buemi)
12. Senna & Chandhok tied.
(Obviously, a driver is significantly punished in this comparison by early retirements or Q/1 qualifying. Remember, this compares only performance not “ability”.)
Again, sorry for this location.

Doesn anybody know if the training sessions can be followed on the TV?
If so, which channel?
Or maybe via internet?

Practice sessions are on the BBC. If you live in the UK, you can watch them later on the iPLayer as well. If you’re in the US, Speed channel broadcasts second free practice, Quali, and the race, all live.

from the picture seen at GP Update, link below, it seems Ferrari are not that sure about the barcode thing and had the engine cover redone!
