If the race result is the same as qualifying then I think Hamilton as blown it title hopes and it’s all his fault. He needed to get maximum points ahead of webber because the remaining races will most likely all be redbull. A 1st or 2nd would have been crucial for Hamilton, I’m really dissapointed in him

He might well get on the podium, he has a top speed advantage of 5kmh on Webber, and he is a good overtaker. Don’t be so depressed!

And even if he does not finish on the podium, the guys in front have quite a big amount of points to gain before they come close, except for Webber, whom it is possible to overtake.
And even if he finishes in 5th, he still gets a decent load of points.

Barring a bad start or incidents, I can very well see Hamilton into 3rd at the the end of Lap 1, and maybe 2nd soon after. If Webber doesn’t improve from 5th, in terms of the championship it might not be bad for Hamilton for Alonso to win. It’s going to be an interesting one.

He needed to finish as far in front of webber as possible to cover himself for the remaining races, he’s got no chance for the title unless webber as a few no finishes. Hamiltons blown it again like 07

This is probably Hamilton’s most disappointing session of the year so far in terms of his own performance, yet he’s blown his whole season? If being a little off the pace in qualifying constitutes a blown season, surely he’s more than made up for it with many of the outstanding performances he’s put in earlier in the year…

Lol he hasn’t cocked up that badly … yet
McLaren have also had long enough to get more down force on their cars for other circuits?
We shall find out

Seriously take a deep breathe,
Hamilton could of been on pole and crashed out from the lead…
The race hasn’t even started, yet alone finished.
Its very possible Hamilton could win and none of the championship contenders finish.
However I do agree he need to take more points than Webber otherwise the championship with the up coming races will be difficult but not impossible. I believe Webber and Hamilton will both have a non finish before the year is out.
Massa for the win… come on!

I think the McLaren will not be that far behind in the coming races. It’s EBD is working quite well by now, the F-Duct is working perfectly and they can hope the rigid floor will be a bit damaging to RBR speed as well.

@Damon, a few no finishes is entirely possible for both Webber and Vettel at this point given their reliability record this season. Then again, Hamilton’s had more mechanical retirements than either so far this year.

I never said being off the pace in qualy as blown his championship, but if he doesn’t finish ahead of webbber tomorow I think he has

True there’s still a race ahead, but it would have been a damn sight easier for Hamilton if he was on the front row. Every point counts and it was hamiltons best chance by far this season to maximise the diference between him and mark
BBT
11th September 2010, 17:03
Well as it happens its not his best chance, that was Canada and Spa.
Every team takes a special package to Monza so it was never a foregone conclusion he’d be on the front row or have the best chance of a win (ok, maybe on paper you could argue it was his best chance of the remaining races, but in Canada and Spa teams don’t take such unique packages, its that, that has put him on the back foot)
Tomorrow will be interesting for sure.

Massa should jump Button at the start no problems and Hamilton should get pass Webber as well but will they all make it around the first corner.
Everyone seems to have forgot how poorly the RBR starts and the extra power the Ferraris and Mclaren have.
Hay, if Webber has a start like Spa he’ll be out of the top 10.
Damon

He won at Canada and spa, you can’t do much more than that. He really underperformed today
