Robert Kubica

Believed the best they could hope for was seventh on the grid. But couldn’t improve on his second run in Q3 and ended up ninth, just 0.012s slower than Nico Rosberg in seventh.

He moved up to fifth at the start but lost a place to Nico Hulkenberg through his pit stop. He tried to pass the Williams at the first corner but that allowed Mark Webber in to take another place off him.

Vettel also passed Kubica through the pits, leaving him eighth.

Vitaly Petrov

Petrov qualified 15th but was relegated to 20th for blocking Timo Glock at the start of Q1.

He ran a long stint on hard tyres to move up to tenth, but his inevitable pit stop left him 13th at the end of the race.

    1. Kubica needs to up his overtaking. Can’t become a world champion without this. (As we can see with Vettel) I mean even Schumacher who’s struggling gave Webber a better fight.
It’s surprising though, because I think Kubica used to be much more aggressive and very hard to overtake. But now..
      Spa and now Monza.. Disappointing.
Kubica is my favourite driver and I really hope there are good explanations for this too safe driving.

      1. Overtaking by Webber was direct result of fight between Kubica and Hulkenberg which Renault basically lost in pit stop. On track Hulkenberg got defensive so Kubica had to lift off when Webber was on the run. You can’t do much more in that situation.

    2. Petrov must have been annoyed after seeing Vettel get to the last lap on softs – had he done that, he might have gotten a lot closer to the points scoring positions.

    3. Did Kubica just have a much slower pit stop than Hülkenberg? This was never going to be a really competitive race for Renault, just like RBR. Singapore will likely be a very different story.

      1. His pit stop was significantly slower.

        1. And Renault was slow as well on the track.
