This was Sam Michael’s last race with Williams. He said: “I would like to thank everyone on the race team and at the factory for the last 11 years and to wish them all the best for a bright future.”
Rubens Barrichello

Pit stop 1 | Soft 30.456s |
Pit stop 2 | Soft 30.544s |
Barrichello took 12th on the grid ahead of Maldonado, which made for Williams’s best qualifying performance since Monaco.
The pair swapped places at the start but when the safety car came out Barrichello was yet to make his second stop. He switched to soft tyres in an attempt to reach the end of the race without pitting again.
He inherited tenth as Felipe Massa and Maldonado in front of him pitted. But his tyres began to go off seven laps from home and he was powerless to keep them behind.
Sebastien Buemi also took advantage, leaving Barrichello 13th.

Maldonado made his second pit stop before the safety car period, and moved back to tenth before pitting for the final time.
That dropped him behind Massa and although he passed his team mate three laps from home, he ended up out of the points in 11th.

Maldonado did quite well as he did at Monaco. I’m not sure Barichello is still good. Bad car make it hard to read…

Both driver’s looked very racy in Singapore, especially Maldonado. It’s a shame they couldn’t score any points.

Tricky headline Keith, I had to read the article to see if his tyres were to soft or to hard. Nag,nag, nag.

I knew McLaren were pushing to get Michael on board before the end of the season but surprised they did it so quickly.
Not a bad result at all for Williams, all things considered.

I thought Michael was already due to leave Williams before he signed for McLaren?

Rubens was fast as ever! He kept Massa behind him for more or less 5 laps. His strategy was so much tougher & different than Pastor’s one. Williams will gain points only by taking risks. At least Rubens is trying to achieve them! Pastor is another bad rookie!
