2012 British Grand Prix Predictions Championship results

Utbowler0407 claimed the top prize after coming out on top in a three-way tie with Anakincarlos and SabatFormulaOne in the latest round of the Predictions Championship.

All three scored 29 points but it was Utbowler0407 who did the best job on the pole position time tie-breaker and claims the top prize of an Autocourse eBook.

Anakincarlos won a Grand Prix Heroes DVD from Duke Video and SabatFormulaOne claims an F1 poster from PJ Tierney.

In the championship Chrissylyn jumped into a 16-point lead following a strong round.

That may look like a lot given that the same margin covers the next 20 players. But things can change very quickly in this championship and there are still up to 550 points to be won by each player.

Anakincarlos moved up to joint eighth and SabatFormulaOne doubled their previous score to 58.

Lewis Hamilton was the favourite for both pole position and victory this weekend. Just 6.6% of players picked Fernando Alonso to take pole position and 2.9% named Mark Webber as the winner.

The highest scorer in each race will win an Autocourse eBook. The 1971 edition will be the first prize up for grabs, and later players will have the chance to win 1972 to 1976 editions.

To enter, predict the pole sitter and the top five finishers in the race. You can also enter a prediction for the pole position lap time – this may be used as a tie-breaker.

Another disappointing round for me, I was convinced Vettel would bag pole after Valencia but it just wasn’t to be! Congratulations to the victors.

Keith, who got the closest to predicting the pole time? I’m interested considering it was so difficult to guess with the changeable weather and I also got within a few tenths!

@damonsmedley, I had a 1m51.0s, for Lewis Hamilton, and it was looking pretty good at the start of Q3, though unfortunately Lewis didn’t get his inters to work.

Didn’t score very high, all I had right was Alonso 2nd and Vettel 3rd, yet somehow I’m now 1 point shy of the top 50…

I don’t want to sound too bitter or anything, but I predicted Alonso for pole, Webber for the race win and Alonso and Kimi and Webber in the top 5 – only one in the correct position of course.

I thought I’d done quite well but only 7 points. It seems like there’s a massive bonus for predicting 3 race positions (14 points) even if you don’t get the pole and the race win right.

The massive scores at Melbourne also seem a little disproportionate to the rest of the year due to the huge bonus for race positions.

Ok, I know this is heresy to say something about the rules but I’ve done it now!!! Sorry if it sounds like sour grapes… it isn’t. I expect to be bashed and probably rightly so. I will regret posting this comment after doing it no doubt.

Unfortunately @Todfod couldn’t go at the last minute so we did a quick competition to pass the tickets onto someone else, which was won by Ben Parker. I heard from Ben afterwards on Twitter, he did make it there.
