The car Michael Schumacher made his F1 debut with in 1991 has gone on sale.

The Jordan-Ford 191, raced by Schumacher in the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, is being sold by Memento Exclusives. No price has been quoted.

The car is one of several items being sold by former Jordan team principal Eddie Jordan.

Jordan is also selling a replica of the helmet Schumacher wore in that race, signed by Schumacher with the message: “Dear Eddy [sic], thanks for the drive at Spa 1991.”

Schumacher stunned the F1 world by qualifying seventh on the grid for his first F1 race in Belgium. But the clutch failed on his car immediately after the start.

  1. Well, that tan doesnt pair for itself…!

    1. Don’t be so harsh, BBC pays a misery, now seriously it could be for charity.

      1. Eddie has other incomes rather than the BBC.

I think you’ll find my post was a joke as well. Lighten up, it’s Friday…

    2. *pay for itself – even…

  2. The product page for the car is interesting. You can enter any number you like and then click “add to basket”. I’ll take ten!

    1. I’d like to see a basket that can fit even 1!

      1. I do fancy a 7up.

  3. I might as well have two of those green ones while I’m here anyway.

  4. It isn’t actually the helmet Schumacher wore in the race but a replica with the message on top of it from Schumacher to Jordan and perhaps a message underneath saying made in China.

Priced at 12,000 which seems a lot for a replica with no real value apart from it being signed.

      gotta love damons helmet though.

  5. I wonder how that Jordan would look like parked near the college hostels? Or will the 198 look better?

  6. I wouldn’t be surprised if Schumacher buys this himself. I don’t have my magazines here, but I remember him saying he’d like to own his Jordan as far back as 1998.

    1. I can’t imagine why Schumi wouldn’t want his first F1 car. It’s not like he doesn’t have the money! In a perfect world maybe it’ll end up in the Schumacher museum in Kerpen, as opposed to gathering dust in some anonymous private collection.

    2. Both Schumacher brothers have all their former F1 cars in a personal museum in Kerpen. This is the only car that is not there. Michael tried to buy it but Eddie refused all his offers. Until now perhaps?

all the ferrari’s are in the museum? if so just wow…

      2. There IS a Jordan 191 in Kerpen, just not this one. I remember my research telling me that there is a total of 6 191’s in existance.

  7. Im surprised the winning constructors trophies are up for sale

  8. That explains why he talked up rumours of Schumi quitting, he needed a bit of extra publicity!

    1. @bascb, there is that, but there is also the converse, he might be selling now because he thinks Schumi will be out of sight and out of mind next year.

or given the boom in viewership in 2009-2011 and the drop off now and the likeliness of that continuing that there will be no better time in his lifetime to sell.

      2. Very much true, Eddie wanting to cash in while its still worth something!

  9. Sounds like EJ is short on money looking at this. I know I wouldnt sell trophies from my first ever race win. Seriously, some of this stuff surely would constitute something “too valuable to sell”. Makes me worry as he has been known for throwing money around at times.

    1. don’t worry about ej and his finances. although i don’t know numbers, he has been a very shrewd businessman over the years – he retained ownership of the factory at silverstone and when force india didn’t have the rent he dumped a mountain of concrete on the only road in and out of there :)

      1. True but I know people who have been and worked for him in the past. One person (soon to be mother in law in fact) was offered a house for doing one bit of work. Turned him down as it sounded too much like he threw money at everything and she didnt like that.

  10. Dear Santa….

  11. The 7-Up Jordan was one of my favourite ever liveries. I worked for a graphics company at the time and did some of the art for the asociated promo products. I was so pleased to be working on a great looking project instead of the usual dross.
I think we all apluaded Michael for a terrific start to his career, but I for one, was somewhat disappointed when he defected to Benetton so quickly.
I wonder if Eddie would still refuse a bid from Michael?

    1. gotta be one of the best looking cars from the 90’s

  12. Did they repair the car?

    1. Buying a second hand car with a dodgy clutch is a big risk – you could get yourself a lemon….in this case possibly event a lemon & lime.

  13. if we all pool our life savings together…….

  14. I think this is really sad. He’s selling his genuine trophies? Like Monza 99? These were won through determination and hard work, and I think it’s very bizarre that he would want to frivolously sell them. Does he need the money? I’m led to believe not, I think he has money in property etc.

But not only is he selling trophies he’s won, he’s selling personal gifts from drivers too. Like the Schumacher helmet, with it’s personalised message on. For me, it’s akin to selling a letter someone writes you. I would’ve hoped that Eddie Jordan would attach more sentiment to them than this.

It is rather bizarre i can’t understand it either ej doesn’t strike me as hard up there must be a good reason for it or he wouldn’t do it.

  15. i cant believe he’s selling the trophies and to be honest i’m a little disappointed

  16. Whatever it goes for, this ensures that it will be 110% worth it…

Eddie Jordan himself will provide a formal handover to the new owner of the 191 and private photographs will be taken which will be professionally framed and given to you as a memento of this special day. PLUS you will receive 2 paddock club tickets to the British 2013 Grand Prix and all certification documents will be signed by Michael Schumacher himself.

    1. That would be a little weird if Schumacher were to buy back his old car.

“The certification documents were signed by… myself.”

Schumi could use the paddock club tickets if he’s not racing next year though!

    2. Maybe Schumi wouldn’t pay enough and Eddie’s playing him?

Which of these two steering wheels do you guys recommend I buy:
    Logitech G27 – http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-PN-941-000046-racing-wheel/dp/B002N6FU4A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1347053584&sr=8-2

or Logitech Driving Force GT – http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Driving-Force-Steering-Wheel/dp/B001IWR9JY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347053623&sr=8-1

I intend to play F1 2012 and rFactor and want to make sure that I have the best virtual driving experience possible, so I figured who better to ask then a bunch of motorsport FANATICS!

    1. G27 is the only wheel you’ll ever need.

  18. Geeez, I wish I had Bill Gates´ money… I´d jump on it in a heartbeat…. This is THE most beautiful looking car ever in MHO!!

  19. The 191 is sublime. I’d do anything to have a go in it :)
