   Ricciardo should be one spot higher at least – should have passed Sutil but was almost run off the track.

   Wow, Alonso was overtaking people left, right and center throughout the entire race.

      Yup, he’s in an incredibly quick car and started in the midfield because he couldn’t put it together in qualifying.

      Hamilton went to the back of the field because of a puncture and still finished 4th. Massa had a puncture yet still finished 6th.

         Anyone who’s been following F1 this year would know that the Lotus and Ferrari both struggle to get heat into the harder compounds on cold days. I dont think Alonso could have gained more than a tenth in those conditioned, especially considering his team mate set a much slower time in the same car.

            @joshua-mesh, it is an incredibly quick car, thats not really arguable. What Ferrari and Alonso do with it is.

               The difference between their qualifying and race pace showed otherwise. Plus Ferrari themselves said they struggled in the colder temps.

            I’m not sure about that. There’s not really anything between the Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull at the moment. Up until Canada the Ferrari had been without the doubt the best overall package.

            I’m not sure if Ferrari really are having trouble getting heat in their tyres. They’ve had several tyre blow outs this season.

            If you look at Alonso’s career at Ferrari he’s only had two dry poles and one of those was at Monza which is the least technical circuit on the calendar. Alonso’s (relatively) poor qualifying performances go back to the Bridgestone days of 2010!

   What really gets to me is the “tire” problem happened to the whole spectrum. There can be no argument made that the tire favored one team or another as it chose to puncture/delam/etc., as it hit both Mercedes and Ferrari and even showed potential for RBR (and later, Mercedes again).

   Good result for ALO but he must be really worried because the pace of his Ferrari has nowhere today.

   Can Mercedes mount a TITLE CHALLENGE TO RED BULL AND VETTEL??? I mean the degradation on Hamilton and Rosberg’s car didn’t seem bad, and Lewis had the pace to win that race, he would have won it had the tyre didn’t blow… Particularly with his pace in SECTOR 2 AND 3… Rosberg also wasn’t bad either, he had the pace to challenge Vettel.

         Get over it. Why don’t you go to Paris and complain all by yourself because no penalty was given. It’s over, get on, let’s talk about “Lewis’ comeback through the field, Mark’s 2nd place run, Alonso’s unexpected podium for him”. GET REAL AND MOVE ON.

   Hulkenberg scoring a point has to be the most undeserving result. He was all over the place the whole race, got himself in a couple of dangerous situations over the course of it and was simply average all throuought. Both Maldonado and Bottas drove a more composed race than him, to be honest.

   And how did McLaren get to not scoring again? They didn’t look all that bad this weekend. Did they mess up the strategy on Button’s car a la Raikkonen or what happened there?

    I think Vettel must be disappointed, but not overly worried with today’s result as he still has a 21 point lead in the WDC

    Incredible turn-around performance from Mercedes. At the end of the race, Hamilton was quicker than Alonso in a car with damage, and with tyres a few laps older.

    I’ve never been a big believer in the theory that Mercedes gained any significant advantage with their Pirelli tyre test, but I think it’s just as well for them that the tribunal was before the British Grand Prix.

    Ok, I know the safety cars helped massively, but is this the first time that all the Caterhams and Marussias have finished on the lead lap? Must be.
