    Gotta love the BBC highlights…

    1. Their program can’t get much worse than it did last week. They still had 20 minutes of Suzi Perry not really knowing what she’s doing, padding out time that could be spent watching the race. After one of their usual “dubstep breaks” that they do between every (every…) interview, the race started! There wasn’t any formation lap shown, or even the showing of the lights counting.

During the race it was just Ben Edwards telling us that the racing was good. He wasn’t doing much commentary in particular, he was just doing PR effectively :P He literally just said things were brilliant every 30 seconds. The BBC coverage (the program as a whole lasts 90 minutes) showed about a third of the race, which meant that most of the pit stops weren’t shown. The commentary never explained the different drivers’ strategies. Drivers such as Vettel and Ricciardo moved all about the place throughout the race, but I can assume in hindsight that it was through the pit stops (and using the safety car towards the end). I didn’t know because I never saw.

Finally I saw a lot less of Allan McNish throughout the weekend. The official new technical guy – probably the one person who might be useful since Gary Anderson was kicked out – there was too little of.

If the BBC don’t want the full coverage and don’t try to produce any kind of decent program for the public, why are they bothering in the first place?

      Abysmal Coverage! Rant over :S

  2. I wish to say something.

Keith, you have said several times in the past that this is not a British-only site. In fact, I quite like it for its cultural diversity among readers.

But alongwith the TV times, which are obviously British (I have nothing against that), would it not have been more proper to add ‘all times in GMT +1’ ?

This is just my opinion, and not on something which is too big a thing, I know. But still, I believe that little detail would have made it better.

    1. @wsrgo I think it would be stating the obvious to point out that I’m using the UK time zone to describe UK programming times. Why would I do otherwise, and why would anyone expect I might do otherwise?

Besides which, all the session times are available via the F1 Fanatic calendar which is linked in the article.

      1. I concur with @wsrgo, “GMT+1” or “GMT+0” disclaimer should be small but useful addition.

Different regions switches to summer/winter in different days of the years, this alone can cause confusion and this has caused me problems, timers like the one on F1.com uses the local PC clock, that can be messy again.

the session times are always problematic, or at least they were! last season I missed some races or qualifyings due to the time differences!!!! but now I always use Keiths times tables and knowing they are the UKs times and world time zones I just figure out the times for my country. now I don´t have to worry about it.

  3. Is it wtcc this weekend as well? Never known so much Motorsport over Easter weekend.

    1. It is – Eurosport are showing the races at 12:00 and 16:00, live from Paul Ricard.
They’re also showing some of the WEC 6 Hours live, 13:00-14:00 on Eurosport 2 and the last hour 17:00-18:00 on Eurosport.
(British times & Eurosport, of course)

It’s a shame all the racing seems to be on Sunday – I’ll miss it as I’ll be out watching the racing, at Silverstone…

  4. Worst schedule in all of modern billion dollar sports!

  5. One in Australia will be showing qualifying and race live

  6. Just saw Rosberg talking very confident. I would say that he is already doing a bit of that to play the confidence game with Lewis saying that he “has some ideas” to improve and work on. Nice!

    1. ehm, that really does not fit all too well here, sorry, I thought I had the FP2 results open!

Does someone know something I don’t?..just watched a clip from qualifying for The Silverstone 6 Hours, and guess what?..Andrian Newey was chatting away in the pit lane!!…and did you see how close the top six times of the LMP Hybrids were?…should be a good season…
