Dry weekend ahead in Barcelona

2014 Spanish Grand Prix weather

Of the four qualifying sessions held so far this year the only time the cars didn’t do out on a wet track was when they were racing in a desert.

But F1’s run of rain-hit Saturdays should not continue this weekend as the Circuit de Catalunya is forecast to be bathed in sunshine for the three days of the Spanish Grand Prix.

That’s good news for the teams, most of which will be hoping to spend the Friday and Saturday practice sessions evaluating their latest upgrades.

Temperatures should be just creeping above 20C when the cars hit the track at 10am on Friday morning. By the second session the air temperature will have risen a few degrees but the track should be considerably warmer.

The warmest temperatures of the weekend are expect on Saturday, reaching around 25C. Temperatures on Sunday will be more like they were on Friday.

A slightly stiffer south-easterly wind on race day will also give drivers a bit more to contend with on the Circuit de Catalunya’s typical trouble spots such as the high-speed Campsa right-hander.

For more updates on the track conditions during each session keep an eye on F1 Fanatic Live and the F1 Fanatic Twitter account.

    Come on force india……….

  3. Can’t wait to see all the hard work, the new parts, the new performances, all that stuff running and roaring in Barcelona :)

  4. This is a good thing.

We almost need this Barcelona boringness to find where everyone really stands.

Although, I will say this – I think this one of a small handful of tracks where DRS actually benefits the racing hugely, and i’m not even really a fan of DRS.

I think this could be a good one.

    1. I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully we can see a team or two start to move towards the Mercs.

      1. Hopefully Williams is one of them.

        1. This is what i’m hoping, but I worry they’ve missed the boat on cashing in on their performance advantage.

Luck just wasn’t on their side.

I think now, Force India are too strong, Ferrari have improved, McLaren will bring a lot of updates, and even Lotus are creeping up.

  5. **completely out of context**

I just watched the last laps of Brazil 2008 and there seems to be a massive fight on youtube regarding who deserved the tittle that year. Ham or Mas
Would be an interesting off season poll

Haha, I was actually briefly a part of that argument. You’ll find my comment as “The Undisputed” with the Ferrari avatar, as I defended Massa for a few comments.

I almost never get involved in debates on YouTube though, as more often than not the turn real nasty.
