Sauber will test Adderly Fong (pictured) and Roy Nissany in Spain next week.

The pair will drive a Sauber C31 which was used by the team during the 2012 championship. The test will take place at the Ricardo Tormo road circuit in Valencia on October 22nd and 23rd, while Lotus are also testing Esteban Ocon.

Fong, 24, has raced in GP3 and the World Endurance Championship LMP2 category this year. The driver from Hong Kong pipped former F1 driver Alex Yoong to the Audi R8 LMS championship in the previous season.

Nissany, 19, is an F3 rival of Ocon’s. With one round remaining in this year’s European F3 championship the Israeli driver is 18th in the standings.

Nissany’s father Chanoch tested for Jordan and Minardi in the mid-2000s.

  1. Seems the Nissany family still has what it takes to buy a spot to drive a fast car and the will to do it then!

    1. Indeed! I remember Mr. Nissany made Yuji Ide look like a pro XD

    2. Not only Nissany, Fong doesn’t seem like a great talent either.
I’ve watched Nissany in F3 past year and this year, and he’s utterly forgettable. And I didn’t even know a driver named Fong was driving in GP3 despite having watched pretty much all of the GP3 races this year. That should be telling.

Title should be changed to “Sauber needs some more money”.

  2. I guess we could see this as a bit of a fundraiser party for the teams.

    1. haha true:)

  3. What, Ma Qing Hua wasn’t available?

Ma is actually being paid to race it seems, he’s Citroën’s works “Chinese driver in a Chinese car” (the C-Elysée is not on the European market) in the WTCC.

      1. “the C-Elysée is not on the European market”
        It is in Eastern Europe.

  4. Seems like money wasn’t an issue for them, as they must have a lot.

  5. Not quite sure what the significance is of Ocon’s mentioning here….

    1. He’ll have to avoid them on track.

    2. They’re testing on the same track.

And what @hunocsi said, I guess.

  6. Sadly no simona driving the sauber. Was this one of the tests she was supposed to drive in before the money issues?

  7. #PrayForSauber

  8. Great. This is what we get because of no RRA. Someone do something before we all leave. Pay drivers were ok when there were 35 cars attempting to qualify… Things aren’t so healthy at the moment.

  9. So Mitch Evans, Jolyon Palmer or Oliver Rowland aren’t good enough? I mean, they have heaps of sponsors and money (especially Palmer cause of his dad) and above all, they’re very talented and show maturity and first class driving when they race.

Fong: Apparently offered a reserve seat at Marussia but that all seems to be a rumour and has only competed in 4 rounds of GP3 this year after being beaten by Matheo Tuscher (his 17 yo teammate) and Pål Varhaug (who has just as much experience as Fong despite being 2 years younger than him).

Nissany: His father test for Minardi at age 42 and was last by some six seconds to second last and nearly 13 seconds to the leader and he also put his Minardi in the gravel. Roy isn’t much more impressive but the amount of cash he would have would definitely blow Gutierrez right out of contention
