Warm, sunny conditions greeted the teams at Spa-Francorchamps but a cooler, wetter front is heading to the area and could arrive in time for Sunday’s race.
The teams can expect favourable conditions for the first two days of running, with temperatures reaching up to 25C and bursts of sunshine between cloudier spells. But what could happen on Sunday is where things get interesting.
A cooler front is approaching from the west which will bring lower temperatures and rain at the beginning of next week. But exactly when it will arrive could have a major effect on the race. Current predictions indicate it won’t reach the track until late afternoon, well after the chequered flag has fallen.
However that’s still over 72 hours away, and the forecast could change between now and then.

Seconded! A sprinkling of rain near the end of the Belgian GP usually makes things interesting, see the races in 2010 and especially 2008 – Raikkonen would have won that race if it had remained dry, and I remember being shocked seeing Heidfeld cross the line in third after he’d pitted for wet tyres and flown past 3-4 other cars on the final lap.

I know it is not gonna rain. F1 has a hate relationship with the rain gods. It is best for we fans to expect a dry and sunny race. That way we won’t be disappointed if the heavens don’t open up.

Your guess is as good as mine. When I lived in Belgium, there was a time it was absolutely teeming down in Spa while it was dry just an hour and a half away where I lived near Brussels.

I don’t think he had too much of a chance to begin with. Ferrari was pretty strong in Hungary, but if we go back just one more race, they were nowhere near the Williams’s’s’s’ pace. Spa is more of a high-speed track, and the super-soft tyre, that tends to help the Scuderia, will be sidelined. So my guess is that Williams will up their game again, as long as it stays dry.
