For the second race in a row the fight for supremacy at Mercedes was as much a contest on the radio as it was on the track.

As in Mexico, Lewis Hamilton was eager for Mercedes to put him on a different strategy to give him a chance of passing his team mate, but his strategists stuck to their policy of using similar tactics for both cars.

Perez: “Horrible race”
Meanwhile Nico Rosberg ahead was kept abreast of the threat from his team mate behind and, in the closing stages, the traffic he was approaching which threatened to help Hamilton get within range.

Hamilton wasn’t the only driver getting frustrated on the radio. Once again Fernando Alonso’s aggravation was clear, particularly when he was delayed when Jenson Button was given a preferential pit stop call.

Max Verstappen impressed with some of his overtaking moves in Brazil but inside the cockpit he was clearly annoyed with the irregular power delivery from his Renault which cost him some of his hard-won places.

Among those who passed him was Romain Grosjean, who had words of encouragement for his countrymen on the radio after the terrorist attack in Paris on Friday.

Lap* From To Message
PR Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton So just caution on the pit entry for team personnel.
PR Carlos Sainz Jnr Marco Matassa Sainz’s car broke down as he left the pits to go on his reconnaissance lap.
The car turned off by itself. I don’t know what happened.
PR Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr We will let you know, stay in the car.
PR Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr Carlos we are still looking at it, stay in the car please, stay in the car.
PR Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr P1 Carlos P1, and then P0. P1, P0.
PR Carlos Sainz Jnr Marco Matassa OK and then P1 again or not?
PR Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr No stay in P0, stay in P0. We will bring the car back and then we will start from the pitlane.
PR Carlos Sainz Jnr Marco Matassa What is happening?
PR Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr It is not fully clear for us now so we are looking in the data. As soon as we will have the car back we will do some more checks. So for the moment stay in the car please, we will bring the car here in the garage, and then we will start from the pit lane.
PR Carlos Sainz Jnr Marco Matassa OK who is coming to pick me up and all that?
PR Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr Marshalls.
PR Carlos Sainz Jnr Marco Matassa So I stay in the car?
PR Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr Yes please, stay there. We have to wait that the pit lane closes, so in about ten minutes.
PR Carlos Sainz Jnr Marco Matassa Sighs
OK.
PR Jenson Button Tom Stallard Yeah everything is OK with the car. There seems to be a reasonable amount of front grip, I think it might be the wind change.
PR Carlos Sainz Jnr Marco Matassa Do you want me to go back to P0 and wait until they take me back?
PR Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr Yes please, stay in P0 and do not go out from the car. See you here in the garage, do not go out from the car please.
PR Carlos Sainz Jnr Marco Matassa OK.
PR Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr It is about six minutes to pit lane close.
PR Carlos Sainz Jnr Marco Matassa OK then, we will lose communication from now on then. Ciao.
PR Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr Ciao.
PR Lewis Hamilton Peter Bonnington Generally the balance feels… definitely got a strong end already. The high speed, feels like it has got a pretty good front end.
PR Erik Schuivens Marcus Ericsson Drivers please proceed to the front of the grid for the minute of silence first, and then the national anthem.
PR Romain Grosjean Julien
Simon-Chautemps
OK Dave we need Romain at the front of the grid, we need Romain at the front of the grid.
PR Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton OK so still the wind is quite low, feeling gusty into turn one. Track temp, now we have this cloud cover, is dropping so it’s dropped down to mid-40’s now so we’ve lost a few degrees already.
PR Tim Wright Sergio Perez OK so so far the only medium starter we have is  Maldonado and Sainz will be starting from the pit lane.
1 Carlos Sainz Jnr Marco Matassa Having started from the pits, a recurrence of the same problem ends Sainz’s race.
I have no power.
1 Marco Matassa Carlos Sainz Jnr OK engine off, pull off the track, pull off the track Carlos if you can.
1 Jonathan Eddolls Valtteri Bottas Blend one, brilliant start.
4 Xevi Pujolar Max Verstappen OK try to stay in the DRS with Perez.
4 Felipe Nasr Craig Gardiner I need more straight line speed.
4 Craig Gardiner Felipe Nasr AD2.
5 Julien
Simon-Chautemps
Romain Grosjean Well done, keep pushing.
6 Nico Hulkenberg Brad Joyce Tyres feel pretty consistent, I could go a bit faster but get stuck here. It’s pretty good, a bit of understeer in the car which is good.
6 Valtteri Bottas Jonathan Eddolls Everything still consistent with the tyres.
7 Jonathan Eddolls Valtteri Bottas Good info, this is looking great. Just keep pulling away from Kvyat behind, this is working well.
7 Gianpiero Lambiase Daniil Kvyat Try to break Hulk’s DRS Dani.
8 Tom Stallard Jenson Button Any feedback on the tyres?
8 Jenson Button Tom Stallard Holding on OK.
8 Riccardo Adami Sebastian Vettel Was a good lap, keep pushing.
9 Simon Rennie Daniel Ricciardo We need to get through these Manors quickly.
10 Kimi Raikkonen David Greenwood Yeah it’s bad I have no front end in the last turn, last corner and the rear is sliding, the whole car is sliding.
10 David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen Understood, understood.
10 Dave Robson Felipe Massa And we are box this lap, box this lap.
10 Felipe Massa Dave Robson OK.
11 Simon Rennie Daniel Ricciardo OK Daniel cars are starting to pit around us, might be traffic at pit exit, we might be close to some cars at pit exit.
12 Simon Rennie Daniel Ricciardo OK Daniel we need to keep doing good laps now, still one or two cars will pit around us.
13 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg So box, box, box, remember left-hand magic.
13 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton OK Lewis it won’t be long now so let’s pick up the pace.
14 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg Pushing two out of three to start off with.
14 Tim Wright Sergio Perez Checo we need half a second to Massa and Nico, half a second a lap.
15 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton OK Lewis it’s Hammertime. And box box, box box.
15 Nico Hulkenberg Brad Joyce Back end feels pretty poor, very unstable.
16 Brad Joyce Nico Hulkenberg Yeah high rear tyre temperatures, go up on diff, go up on diff.
17 Romain Grosjean Julien
Simon-Chautemps
Those brakes don’t brake.
17 David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen OK Kimi, race situation obviously P4. Gap to Bottas is healthy at the minute, seven and a half seconds. Our plan is to extend this stint slightly, so we will go longer than planned on this stint.
17 Dave Robson Felipe Massa OK Felipe this is good, we are on plan A, plan A. What you’re doing is good. Very good.
18 Xevi Pujolar Max Verstappen Just control the gap with Grosjean behind. A long stint.
19 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg Lewis is trying quite hard.
21 Lewis Hamilton Peter Bonnington In this race, my tyres are not going to last.
22 Kimi Raikkonen David Greenwood [Censored by FOM] these Manors are not moving out of the way.
22 David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen Understood Kimi, understood.
23 David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen And multi-function turbo eight, multi-function turbo eight. Sorry for all the changes, we’re just trying to get this new engine set up.
24 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton And degradation Lewis looks very low on all cars, including ourselves.
24 Lewis Hamilton Peter Bonnington Impossible to follow at this track.
25 Tim Wright Sergio Perez Maldonado ahead on mediums from the start. 22 lap mediums.
25 Valtteri Bottas Jonathan Eddolls From my side all OK just can’t go any quicker if we want to do plan A.
26 Jonathan Eddolls Valtteri Bottas Copy that, you’re maintaining the gap to the car behind. So this is all looking good, just keep doing what you’re doing, everything is coming to us.
26 Tom Stallard Jenson Button And Jenson state of storage is quite low, just be careful with the pack.
26 Jenson Button Tom Stallard Yeah I know but it’s a bit tricky right now.
27 Tim Wright Sergio Perez We will need to overtake Maldonado.
28 Daniil Kvyat Gianpiero Lambiase Get out of the [censored by FOM] way.
29 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton Hamilton tried to get his team to put him on a different strategy to Rosberg.
OK Lewis I think converting to plan B would be a bad idea, that would drop us behind both Ferraris who are still doing 16.6s.
29 Lewis Hamilton Peter Bonnington OK can you get me on a different strategy then somehow? Impossible to overtake. I’m faster but I can’t get close.
31 Sergio Perez Tim Wright They are not getting out of the way.
31 Julien
Simon-Chautemps
Romain Grosjean OK Romain your pace is still good, your pace is still good. Keep mid-three and keep Verstappen under pressure if you…
31 Lewis Hamilton Peter Bonnington Guys you need to come up with some other solution I’m telling you.
31 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton Lewis the only other real option to protect the P2 and try and go for the win, is to stretch this stint long and just put us on a tyre offset at the end. Still be on the same tyre but just different tyre age.
33 Craig Gardiner Felipe Nasr This is good Felipe, this is good, keep it up. Let’s get Ricciardo.
33 Simon Rennie Daniel Ricciardo Box Daniel box, keep it smooth, box this lap.
34 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton Vettel switched to a three-stop strategy which led Mercedes to change both their drivers’ tactics.
OK Lewis so it’s Hammertime, Vettel has just stopped so it’s all kicking off now. You can have strat mode five, one more lap.
34 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton And box box, box box.
35 Jenson Button Tom Stallard Button noticed he was about to be lapped by Hamilton and suggested to McLaren they should make his pit stop now to avoid him losing time.
If you’re thinking of an early pit stop think about it.
35 Tom Stallard Jenson Button OK Jenson let’s do it, box this lap.
35 Jenson Button Tom Stallard Box this lap? Good idea.
35 Mark Temple Fernando Alonso And box this lap, confirm.
36 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg So Nico, we are going plan B, we are going plan B.
36 Nico Rosberg Tony Ross What happened to Lewis at the end of the stint, did his tyres degrade?.
36 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg Affirm, affirm, couldn’t keep the pace. But the stints will now be shorter Nico, the stints will now be shorter.
36 Fernando Alonso Mark Temple Alonso was unhappy that his pit stop was delayed because Button made his early.
Yeah box now, you know. We’ve been lapped this lap, so I don’t know what it’s you’re waiting for or if you want me to lose even more time.
37 Mark Temple Fernando Alonso We had to let Jenson go first, Jenson had priority, Hamilton close behind.
38 Erik Schuivens Marcus Ericsson Do we have any damage?
38 Marcus Ericsson Erik Schuivens I have quite a big hit on the left rear.
38 Erik Schuivens Marcus Ericsson OK copy that, continue you’re still ahead of Button who is now exiting the box.
38 Marcus Ericsson Erik Schuivens How does it look on data?
39 Erik Schuivens Marcus Ericsson We’ll check, you keep driving and keep us informed.
40 Jenson Button Tom Stallard Is there any way of making the high speed more understeer?
40 Tom Stallard Jenson Button Jenson we are maxed out on diff, we are maxed out.
52 Sebastian Vettel Riccardo Adami I can stay out a bit more, tyres are good. In general I prefer the [soft] and they don’t seem to have big deg.
42 Daniil Kvyat Gianpiero Lambiase Front locking is out of control. I have a flat spot, it’s too bad I think.
42 Gianpiero Lambiase Daniil Kvyat We think it’s OK to carry on Dani.
42 Max Verstappen Xevi Pujolar I’m seriously losing so much speed on the straight.
43 Xevi Pujolar Max Verstappen Copy that Max.
43 Sergio Perez Tim Wright I’m losing a lot of power on the straights, I’m very slow on the straights.
43 Erik Schuivens Marcus Ericsson OK Marcus, at the moment we are not racing anybody, everybody is quite far away.
45 Max Verstappen Xevi Pujolar Verstappen complained he was getting clipping due to insufficient power from his MGU-K.
Seriously we have to do something, we are clipping way too much [unclear].
45 Xevi Pujolar Max Verstappen Copy that Max, just keep calm, many laps to go.
45 Jenson Button Tom Stallard Did everybody else stay on the other strategy?.
46 Tom Stallard Jenson Button Jenson most cars are on prime but we believe most cars are also plan B.
46 Max Verstappen Xevi Pujolar It’s a [censored by FOM] joke, seriously.
46 Xevi Pujolar Max Verstappen Many laps to go, many laps to go.
48 Riccardo Adami Sebastian Vettel Okay box Sebastian, box.
48 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg So box box box.
48 Gianpiero Lambiase Daniil Kvyat Nice work Dani, really nice work. OK so settle down, there’s a long sting left and like I say your tyres are fresher than Hulk’s, all to play for at the end.
49 Brad Joyce Nico Hulkenberg Information, Kvyat pushed his tyres hard to get Maldonado and on his first laps. Previous stint he was gentle on the introduction.
49 Nico Hulkenberg Brad Joyce Copy.
50 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton So box box, box box.
50 Mark Slade Pastor Maldonado Maldonado was penalised for hitting Ericsson.
We are boxing this lap, you have a five second penalty for the touching Ericsson, it will be a slow stop.
50 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg There is a lot of traffic to get through, we want to keep that gap to Lewis.
51 Gianpiero Lambiase Daniil Kvyat OK Dani so Hulkenberg has started to ramp up his pace, so probably a bit too close at this stage.
51 Nico Rosberg Tony Ross Has he stopped?
51 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg Yes, affirm, Lewis has stopped, he’s two seconds behind.
51 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg Lewis is trying hard Nico so his wear will be the same as yours if you push at the same pace.
52 Kimi Raikkonen David Greenwood The McLaren should give away.
52 David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen Copy Kimi, copy, he should be getting a blue.
52 Tom Stallard Jenson Button And Jenson we’ll stick with target minus four.
52 Jenson Button Tom Stallard Oh stop talking to me in the braking zone! You need to speak to me, you’ve got the whole straight.
52 Tom Stallard Jenson Button Push now Jenson push now. And Jenson box this lap, box this lap. [Soft] tyre.
53 Tom Stallard Jenson Button OK Jenson we need to let Raikkonen past, Alonso close behind him.
53 Jenson Button Tom Stallard OK but he looks so far behind.
54 Daniel Ricciardo Simon Rennie That was fun.
55 Simon Rennie Daniel Ricciardo Yeah nice job mate, next car ahead is Verstappen, let’s get amongst it.
55 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg So you’re safe to Lewis by three seconds. There’s a lot of traffic to get through, we want to keep that gap to Lewis.
55 Nico Hulkenberg Brad Joyce It is getting quite dark, so maybe showers soon.
56 Lewis Hamilton Peter Bonnington I think I’ve damaged my floor.
56 David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen OK Kimi so race situation, solid P4 at the minute. Seb is 13 seconds up the road, also on [mediums], going to the end.
57 Simon Rennie Daniel Ricciardo Let’s stick on the back of Hamilton.
57 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg So gap is 1.7 to Lewis, just manage that gap.
57 Nico Rosberg Tony Ross Don’t talk anymore.
58 Valtteri Bottas Jonathan Eddolls This set of tyres is working better than the last one at lower temps.
58 Jonathan Eddolls Valtteri Bottas Copy that, all good our side to end as well.
58 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton Aero data looks fine, no problems.
59 Sebastian Vettel Riccardo Adami What’s the weather forecast because it is looking a bit darker now.
59 Riccardo Adami Sebastian Vettel Should be dry until the end, just a little overcast.
60 Mark Temple Fernando Alonso Let’s go G5, G5.
60 Fernando Alonso Mark Temple I have no [unclear]. There is no G5 [unclear] you have to lose more time. Maybe I want to stay out, because this is ridiculous.
60 Mark Temple Fernando Alonso OK Fernando, we want to come in this lap, we will be doing the same number of laps on the next set as in this stint.
63 Simon Rennie Daniel Ricciardo OK mate, so we’re going to have to do it again, let’s do him.
63 Nico Hulkenberg Brad Joyce It’s getting quite dark so maybe showers soon.
63 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton Copy, we’re looking into it.
64 Tim Wright Sergio Perez Checo your pace is better than Verstappen ahead of Maldonado ahead of him.
64 Dave Robson Felipe Massa OK Felipe so we’re going to box this lap, box now.
64 Felipe Massa Dave Robson Why?
64 Dave Robson Felipe Massa So it’s a free pit stop Felipe, free pit stop.
65 Gianpiero Lambiase Daniil Kvyat Got to keep it clean, you know where Dani.
65 Mark Temple Fernando Alonso Let’s make sure we bring it home.
65 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton OK Lewis aero data looks fine, no problems.
66 Gianpiero Lambiase Daniil Kvyat Always an opportunity here Dani.
66 Erik Schuivens Marcus Ericsson Ten more laps, keep it up.
67 Dave Robson Felipe Massa OK Felipe so still two seconds a lap quicker than Hulkenberg, so we will catch him on the last lap.
67 Jenson Button Tom Stallard How are our brake temps? Because I can smell brakes.
67 Tom Stallard Jenson Button Jenson our brakes are all good, no concerns over our brakes. Maybe it’s Nasr.
68 Gianpiero Lambiase Daniil Kvyat Multi two, position ten, that is increased performance.
69 Lewis Hamilton Peter Bonnington My tyres have gone off.
69 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton OK copy Lewis, Vettel car behind 11 seconds, no threat there.
70 Simon Rennie Daniel Ricciardo OK Daniel so Verstappen and Maldonado messing around losing time ahead of us. You will catch them. Let’s do them.
70 Simon Rennie Daniel Ricciardo OK Daniel so you’re going to get one more good run down the main straight so you need to be as close as possible this time.
71 Daniil Kvyat Gianpiero Lambiase Oh, front locking is horrible.
71 Sergio Perez Tim Wright It’s all ok with the car? I feel the rear rolling a lot.
71 Tim Wright Sergio Perez Checo we are looking, we are looking. Continue, continue.
VL Nico Rosberg Tony Ross Woohoo! Yeah guys! Awesome!
VL Tony Ross Nico Rosberg Brilliant drive, Nico.
VL Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton P2 I’m afraid, but we all know how hard it is to follow around here.
VL Lewis Hamilton Peter Bonnington Fantastic job this weekend guys, thank you so much.
VL Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton Thanks Lewis, appreciate the thought.
VL David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen OK Kimi good job. So P4, good management of the tyres to get the two-stop to work.
VL Valtteri Bottas Jonathan Eddolls Thank guys well done, just our car was not quick enough today. Good job, guys. Two weeks’ time could be better.
VL Jonathan Eddolls Valtteri Bottas It will, for sure. Just for info Valtteri that did secure our third in the championship.
VL Brad Joyce Nico Hulkenberg Chequered flag, great drive mate, well done, that’s a good job.
VL Nico Hulkenberg Brad Joyce Good job on the strategy guys. Not easy but manageable.
VL Brad Joyce Nico Hulkenberg That was a very good final stint mate, real good job.
VL Gianpiero Lambiase Daniil Kvyat Yeah hard luck, we made the strategy stick. Just not enough pace in the straight line to pass the Force India.
VL Daniil Kvyat Gianpiero Lambiase Yeah I think the undercut was very costly for us.
VL Felipe Massa Dave Robson Thank you guys, so I guess we are third in the championship so that’s the main thing, the most important thing. But obviously I am not really happy for the whole weekend.
VL Julien
Simon-Chautemps
Romain Grosjean That’s it well done Romain, well done, P9. Good job Romain, good job. You did a good race.
VL Romain Grosjean Julien
Simon-Chautemps

VL Pastor Maldonado Mark Slade Quite tough with the [medium] tyres.
VL Mark Slade Pastor Maldonado Yeah, understood.
VL Simon Rennie Daniel Ricciardo OK mate, good job today. Tyres-wise it didn’t work out quite how we expected but you did some good overtaking moves today, nice job.
VL Daniel Ricciardo Simon Rennie Yeah just the last three laps, started to struggle a lot just with the right rear so I just couldn’t close up enough on Maldonado.
VL Sergio Perez Tim Wright Yeah man, what a horrible race. Definitely there is something wrong with the car. Very bad balance all the way through. I mean you saw my degradation how poor it was. Yeah, a very, very poor weekend.
VL Craig Gardiner Felipe Nasr OK Felipe, P14.
VL Felipe Nasr Craig Gardiner P14?
VL Craig Gardiner Felipe Nasr P14, P14 yeah.

  1. Can anyone help me make sense of that message to JB:
“And Jenson state of storage is quite low, just be careful with the pack”

I guess “State of storage” refers to the battery charging level which I think is better known as “state of charge”.

But in how far can the drivers actively manage that?

    1. They’ll probably be able to change the amount of harvesting and deployment via the steering wheel (within limits)

  2. Lewis missed his best chance in the first corner, I am not a driver but I think he should have stayed on the outside of that corner to be in the inside of the next one, he was so gentle in his attack, shame.

    1. As Toto said before the race ‘theres a guy over there [Nico], who needs to finish 2nd in the championship, lewis is aware this is a team exercise’

    2. Yeah, i wished for that too; then Seb would have won!

    3. You can’t win a race in the first corner, but you can easily lose it ;)

      1. @raceprouk knowing that he is already a champion and that he can’t overtake on track he should have tried harder, what I mean is that his first corner attempt was not that convincing, it is like he was faking it.

If you see kimi’s move on Schumacher in that same corner it should have succeeded (but yes the cars were different).

    4. I’d have thought (expected?) that rather than be on the inside for the next corner, he’d have been on the run-off area. Rosberg would have found a bit of understeer and made sure of that.

      1. Yup, exactly. If I were him i’d be sure to let Lewis know he learnt that dirty trick from him too :-). In fact, I was hoping Lewis would try, just to see him cry foul when he was run wide. Nico be like, see…see?

    5. Nope, the best position is as left as possible on the first corner so you open up the long straight coming up after the second corner.

    6. One should remember Rosberg makes mistakes when under pressure, including last time round in Mexico, where the run off saved him.

      1. So did HAM, in Mexico.

What was going on with Kvyat at Lap 28?

    1. He was probably lapping the Manors.

19 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg Lewis is trying quite hard.
51 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg Lewis is trying hard Nico so his wear will be the same as yours if you push at the same pace.

      Probably those comments?

    2. see the lines 10, 12, 15, 16 & 17, in http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/120372 I couldn’t find a similar story from Keith, even though I am sure there was one.

    3. “Lewis is trying quite hard.” and
“Lewis is trying hard Nico so his wear will be the same as yours if you push at the same pace.”

this was a message that lewis is using extra power config to catch up.

“What happened to Lewis at the end of the stint, did his tyres degrade?”
“Affirm, affirm, couldn’t keep the pace. But the stint’s will now be shorter Nico, the stints will now be shorter.”

Also not sure about this one. This seems info that is not really safety related. But to me there seems to be more information in most messages, then only the words. To all drivers.

  4. When you say about irrelevant messages (At the bottom: “repetitive and irrelevant messages omitted”.) what do you mean? Give an example etc.

    1. @fjbh10 Sometimes the messages are very repetitive – an engineer might say “box” ten times, for instance. These are trimmed back.

      1. Ok thanks.

  5. @keithcollantine There’s a greengrocer’s apostrophe in “But the stint’s will now be shorter Nico”.

    1. @jules-winfield That will not stand! Sorted :-)

  6. Box this lap? Good idea.

Haha, yes, good idea idea team. ^_^

  7. Are the team experimenting Kimi’s engine setup under the race? Do I mean this well?

    1. SauberS1, Kimi changed engines between qualifying and the race because of possible reliability issues, so he used some older parts in order to avoid a penalty. That’s why his engineer apologized to him during the race because they were still trying to make adjustments as he raced ;). That’s partially why Kimi’s car didn’t perform as well as Sebastian’s, they weren’t running with the exact same engine.

      1. Understood, thank you for the information! :)

      1. Thank you, I didn’t think this possibility… :)

  8. I’m not really sure anything is actually achieved by publishing these transcripts other that to stir up controversy where perhaps none exists.

Given that it’s not every conversation (is it ?), there’s room for a heap of misinterpretation. I don’t mind hearing them in the race broadcast but delivering the transcripts in print afterwards?

What’s next from the FIA? “What did Nico really say to Seb in German in the holding room”?

    1. Agreed, only makes sense if all the messages are published so you have context of the message.

    2. @dbradock

I don’t mind hearing them in the race broadcast but delivering the transcripts in print afterwards?

      What’s the difference?

As I’ve said before I agree FOM should broadcast all the drivers’ radio in full because they’re insightful, informative and often entertaining. But as they don’t do that, it’s not realistic to expect people to ignore what they do broadcast.

Besides which, I don’t see any “controversy” which has been “stirred up” here.

      1. I have to say that I look forward to the publication of the transcripts – as noted before . . . we don’t see everything indeed – but it is still interesting. The controversy is not of course in the text it’s self, but in the minds of some people who read between the lines and construe things to suit their opinion or position – the discussions that ensue are also interesting in a way. I like the insight into peoples agenda’s which canbe very different based on the same statement some times – it is a priceless read @keithcollantine – Good Man

        1. I agree. The transcripts are Good.

      2. Strange attitude. If you don’t see the relevance of these transcripts, why read them? I find them useful and interesting because I frequently have difficulty hearing the live broadcast.

  9. The story of his F1 life: “OK Marcus, at the moment we are not racing anybody, everybody is quite far away.”
