Daniel Ricciardo set the fastest lap of the German Grand Prix as Red Bull proved quick enough to keep Nico Rosberg’s Mercedes behind.
While Lewis Hamilton was able to control his pace from an early stage the Red Bull pair used different strategies as they manoeuvred to take advantage of Rosberg’s slow start.
But while Sebastian Vettel set the race’s second-fastest lap Ferrari could not keep up the pace over a stint: he wasn’t able to lap within half a second of that time during the rest of the race.
