Fernando Alonso set the fastest lap of the Italian Grand Prix – the first time McLaren have set the quickest lap of a race in over three years.
Jenson Button was the second-quickest car through the speed trap during the race, hitting 358.3kph.
Showing how much the race leaders were able to conserve their performance, Nico Rosberg only set the ninth fastest lap of the race.

Fernando getting the fastest lap and Jenson with second fastest in the speed trap.
You’d think, from that information alone, that the McLaren was a pretty good car!

Fastest qualy times were about 5 seconds faster than the race flap
Not unusual these times. But it talks volumes about the present state of F1

And how superior the Mercedes really is. Their qualifying lap was almost 6 (six!) seconds faster than their fastest in the race. So they just relax and turn down their engine mapping for the race. Put the car in cruise control and still drive them home in yet another 1-2 victory!

yeah you would, but they had to do the other 50 laps at half pace to save enough enough fuel for 1 fast lap!
