  1. Mercedes make a bad habit not go for weight checking quick enough. Today Nico was escorted to the podium after that rather artificial crowd surfing over the mechanics.

    1. You think the mechanics stuffed his pockets with weights?

    2. Mercedes have done these crowd surfs regularly at wins this year!
In some previous years FIA have handed out penalties and also strict warnings, not to let winning drivers pass over the barriers, exactly to avoid any circumspect behavior where ‘weight’ could be exchanged between driver and team members. We might see this being reinforced again.

Regarding thread title, at least the WDC stays interesting and as tight can be!

Ricciardo again showed his maturity and that he is the defacto best driver at RB.
Just in case some should have forgotten with all the attention VES received since he joined the RB from TR.
End of season total WDC points should speak for themselves.

Wehrlein btw keeps beating Ocon thoroughly.
Challenging to understand why Renault thinks Ocon is the next champion in the making.
No convincing signs that he might even be better than Palmer currently in their car.
Is this why they postponed their 2017 driver announcement, despite previously saying it would happen before Singapore?

    3. dont beso negative… it is bad for you… every race winner does the same, no matter what team ther are in. look for positives first, it is better for you.

  2. Force India takes it back from Williams, gonna fluctuate for the rest of the season.

    1. I don’t think so. Force India has the better car.

      1. @paeschli both cars have pros and cons, FI have I think better drive out of corners but Williams always seem epic on the straights.

  3. Mercedes will seal the Constructors’ Championship in Malaysia unless Red Bull outscore them by 8 points, or Ferrari outscore them by 23. A win combined with any points finish for the 2nd car would seal it in any circumstance, alternatively a 2-5+ or 3-4 finish suffices.

Merc are however a little short of being able to confirm the Drivers’ title as staying in Brackley. A win for Rosberg and a no-score for Ricciardo would leave a 119-point gap to the nearest non-Merc with 125 still on the table.

    1. *a 2-6 finish suffices, excuse me!

    2. Please could this be ignored and deleted, some of the maths is totally wrong and I’ve reposted a corrected version below.

  4. Alonso inching towards Massa, an unthinkable (a few months ago) top 10 is within reach.

  5. First time since Monaco 2014 that Nico has taken back the lead of the championship from Lewis. He really has hit a purple patch.

  6. Mercedes will seal the Constructors’ Championship in Malaysia unless Red Bull outscore them by 8 points, or Ferrari outscore them by 23. A win combined with any points finish for the 2nd car would seal it in any circumstance, alternatively a 2-3 finish also suffices.

    1. Good to know, ty

  7. Merc to seal the WCC in Malaysia is a virtual certainty. Given the pair’s relative error rate, ROS to beat HAM to the WDC is an increasingly good shout.

  8. Round 15 of 2016 vs 2015. The figure between the parenthesis denote the position in the championship relative to 2015, figure thereafter points compared to last year.

  9. Yet again Button gets bad luck on a track where the McLaren worked well and Alonso got good results at… Hungary, Spa, Russia to an extent and now here… Frustrating as a fan of his considering it’s his last season, but at least Alonso’s able to have a good race without any problems and get good points for the team in their battle with Toro Rosso
