  1. I really don’t miss F1 races, but this one does not excite me.
Nice city, unsure why F1 goes there though…

    1. @mickrock Personally, I like this circuit.

      1. I think last years race shows that the circuit has potential. Personally I really rate Baku, it’s the sort of crazy combination of narrow streets, high speed, good overtaking spots and no run off we don’t get to see enough of.

    2. Nice city, unsure why F1 goes there though…

They go there (a) because the organisers want to raise Azerbaijan’s international profile and (b) to make FOM flipping great wadges of cash.

  2. British Touring Cars are in action this weekend too. Donington (I think!) & on ITV4 on Sunday (including the full supporting races).

Keith, the times for FP1 for Sky and Channel 4 seem to be the opposite way round. Sky always start 15 minutes before the session and Channel 4 just 5 minutes. Assume this was just a mistake as my TV guide for Sky and Channel 4 say what I expect.

    1. And while mentioning mistakes…
When you choose “TV times” under Azerbaijan GP, the first times mentioned are the local session times. Scrolling further down, the actual “TV times” show up. What is up with that?
Right now I was ready and excited to watch the qualifying, and the first thing I saw when I turned the screen on, was an interview with the pole sitter! Yay, that’s my Saturday afternoon ruined.
Turns out qualifying started at 14:00 Uk time. I Bet I’m not the only one who made that mistake sometime on this site.
      A change in layout maybe?

  4. I wonder why weren’t the FP, and QLF-sessions brought forward by an hour as well as in China despite the sunset times being earlier at this time of year than in late-June?

Also on race day why is the formation lap at 10 minutes past the hour

      1. Because Liberty changed the race start time for this season.

  5. A quick question about Formula E as I can’t think where else to post it.
Are there any support races to Formula E, or is it just the one race? Seems like an awful lot of effort to organise a circuit in a city centre for just one race.

    1. According the schedule for Paris, the ‘E-village’ (ugh) is open from 0730 until 1800. There are five on track sessions (all FormulaE). Part of FormulaE’s cachet is supposed to be that it pops up & disappears causing less disruption (noise included) in busy cities than traditional motorsport would.

      1. @skylab Aha, many thanks for the information.

@keithcollantine I always use this page to screenshot the times the week before the weekend begins. Can you allow filters on the table so we can choose to filter out Sky or Channel4?

  7. Azerbaijan time is GMT + 4.
Perhaps you could mention time relative to GMT for all races, Keith, for us folk in different time zones.
