In the Weekend Racing Wrap: Breakthrough victory in BTCC, ‘the big one’ in NASCAR Talladega, snow hits World Rallycross round in Portugal and more of the weekend’s racing video highlights.

World Rallycross Championship

Race 2: Portugal

Portugal was the location for the second round of the World Rallycross Championship, with defending champion Johan Kristoffersson looking to build on the win he inherited last time out. The weather took a shock turn late on however, as heavy snow fell for the final.

NASCAR Cup

Race 10: Talladega

NASCAR was at the Talladega Superspeedway for their tenth round of the season, and it was Kevin Harvick who started on pole position. The race was interrupted by “the Big One” just 23 laps from the end, setting up a tense final sprint.

World Rally Championship

Race 5: Argentina

The World Rally Championship made its way to the gravel roads of Argentina, the only on-going event on the calendar that Champion Sebastien Ogier has never won. Could he finally get that long sought after victory or would his rivals use their later road position advantage to claw some points back in the title race?

British Touring Car Championship

Races 4-6: Donington

The British Touring Car Championship was in action at Donington Park for the second round of their season. Josh Cook started the opening race from his maiden pole position, while Tom Ingram looked to build on his Championship advantage.

World Touring Car Cup

Races 4-6: Hungaroring

The second round of the newly-formed World Touring Car Cup took place in Hungary, with home hero Norbert Michelisz taking pole position in both qualifying sessions.

Last weekend’s race reports

Lewis Hamilton won an action packed Formula One race in Azerbaijan, while the supporting Formula Two feature and sprint races were no less chaotic with two maiden winners. Here’s last weekend’s race reports:

  1. Could I ask what’s prompted the change in style of the weekend racing wrap? Is it just a desire to stay spoiler free or has there been reader criticism of the previous format (which included brief summary and details of who won the events which made more sense given what this feature was trying to achieve)?.

    1. @geemac As we’re doing more race reports for non-F1 series this seemed like a logical step. However there’s some other changes under considerations for future versions of WRW. As with several areas of the site the scale and speed of the expansion this year is having knock-on effects.

      1. Keith, just wondering where you draw the line in what to report? BTCC is here but British GT isn’t for example. Maybe just do international series?

      2. @keithcollantine can’t please everyone, but I click on the Weekend Racing Wrap article to find out what has happened – I want to be ‘spoilered’! But I don’t want to have to watch all the videos as I don’t have the time. An article that takes 1 minute to read is better than half a dozen 3 minute videos.

        1. Not only that, but I defy anyone to watch the World Touring Car Cup videos and understand what on earth had happened. They are truly awful and impart no useful information whatsoever.

      3. @keithcollantine I’m with geemac. I enter here to see what happened, I don’t intend to watch every highlight video to see who won.

I prefer the old Weekend Racing Wrap. It was a lot more informative. It’s never a spoiler when you post this the day after everything happened.

  2. I much prefer the spoiler free format, I’d totally forgot the WRC was on so I can watch the highlights with a sense of drama.

  3. Got to be honest, like I said last week, its not a wrap if you don’t wrap it up and tell me what happened, its just a tease.

As for spoiler alert, I now have to avoid this website until I’ve had chance to catch up on Formula E as well, as the headline is always a give away :(

    1. Completely agree with the FE. At least lead with the series name, so “Formula E: Paris race won by Buemi” (as a non-spoiler example) instead of “Buemi wins Paris…” @keithcollantine

Completely love the site tho, even if the subs begging plus ad either requires a reload or takes up my whole screen for every single page visit. ;)

  4. @keithcollantine I’m with @geemac It was a lot more useful and informative before, it’s never a spoiler if you post this the day after every race has finished.

BTW comments are not working properly lately.
