  1. Does that mean that have gotten rid of the silly 10mins past the hour start?

    1. No! Sunday 24th June 2018
      French Grand Prix: 16:10

      1. Hmmm the table at the bottom says session starts at 3pm?

        1. UK 15:10 race start
          Local 16:10 race start

        2. @Pete that’s the Sky programme start time. They split their coverage up into multiple programmes. So the actual race TV programme starts at 15:00.

  2. Not that I’d care too much about it as it makes zero difference for me either way, but I don’t really understand the reasoning for this race to be starting an hour later than all the other European races just because of some World Cup game that isn’t even a decisive one. I could understand if it was a ‘knockout stage’ or ‘playoff’ game in Hockey/Basketball terms, and or the final, but not really since it’s only a stage one game.

    1. But why force people to choose? There are fans of both who will want to watch both for a minor hange to the start time.

Anyway these are the World Cup finals, the qualifiers was the previous round 😉

But yeah, it’s not quarter or semi finals or anything like that.

      @jerejj

      1. But Chase Carey thinks F1 is as big as the world cup! 😛

Perhaps F1 ought to have a World Championship once every four years then.
It could be organised the same way as the World Cup with qualifying races taking place over the previous couple of years, with only the winning car/driver combination going forward to the finals.
Imagine Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull etc entering several cars into the qualification rounds with only some car/driver combinations making it to the finals.
Much better to have quality over a short period once every four years than long, tedious competitions every year.

I watch on my computer and simply have two windows open: one for football and one for motor racing.
It worked very well last weekend for Le Mans and the World Cup.

  4. Hi Guys

Read somewhere a rumor about Newey joining Renault. I know off-topic but interesting

  5. So they can’t guarantee Le Mans not to clash with F1 but they’ll adapt the starting hours for another sport?

    1. @flatsix Yeah, IKR. The logic, LOL.

      1. You guys realise there is a difference between adjusting start time by an hour and moving to a completely different weekend right? No? Of course not. F1 fans SMH

  6. Just an FYI. The Grand Prix is also being shown live on ‘Sky Sports – Main Event’. This is important because it means someone with a standard sports package will also see it, rather than just those who have specifically bought the F1 channel.

  7. Sky Sports… yuk.
I find it amusing that Brexit kicks in at around the same time as full loss of FTA coverage here in the UK.
I’m also finding it hard to watch the RTL coverage lately due to the ridiculous number of adverts.
Could this finally be the end for me!? (No way am I ever giving Rupert Murdoch any of my money).

    1. Just find a regular pub, and get them to stick it on for you @john-h. That’s what I do when it’s not on Channel 4 :) Rupert gets none of your money, and you get no ads. Perfick!

      1. @bealzbob Well indirectly they will. If the pub sees it brings in punters then they will keep paying their (extremely pricey) subscription.

        1. I can live with that @tonyye . I won’t be the reason they’re renewing or cancelling their subscription. The pub buy it for football. It’s their business model. It’s as close to free (legal) use of Sky Sports as you can get; piggy backing an F1 race in a pub :D

    2. @john-h Totally agree John. What with F1 getting duller every race and next year I don’t think I’ll be bothered to try to find streams etc. Could easily stop being interested. Same happened with football for me. BTCC & Formula E will keep my motorsport interest alive it seems.
