Pierre Gasly revealed he told the British Grand Prix stewards he “enjoyed” his wheel-to-wheel battle with Sergio Perez, before receiving a penalty for the incident.
The Toro Rosso driver later described his five-second time penalty, which dropped him out of the points positions, as “bullshit”.
Speaking to media at the Hockenheimring, Gasly admitted he is “still gutted” about it.“In the end I am happy with the move I have done,” he said. “As I said to Sergio and to the stewards I enjoyed it.
“They said ‘what did you think about it’? I said I really enjoyed the battle.”
Gasly believes other drivers have gone unpunished for similar incidents.
“For me it was clear, I accept, but I still think the penalty was useless. Especially with the other crashes – OK, give me five seconds, then give five seconds to all the other incidents we had since the beginning of the year.
“In Austria I got hit in the first lap, I took half my floor and the back out of the car and nothing happened. For me, OK, there was no penalty, fair enough, but don’t give me a penalty for such a little thing in Silverstone.”
“I don’t want to think about it any more,” he added. “I have two race weekends coming in a row. I think that’s two other opportunities to do good races.”

I couldn’t agree more with him.

Penalties are stupid – they are trying to improve racing – 1stly untie the drivers hands! The reason why Max is exciting/reckless is because he is prepared to put on the line for an overtake – all the others tow the team line….or FIAs line…
Let them race punish for unfair deliberate blocks and contact or if the actually put the other driver out the race.

So, like Max does now on occasion?

Pushed Perez off track and gain an advantage. Fair for the 5 second penalty.
