Pirelli has confirmed its tyre testing schedule for the 2019 F1 season.

Eight teams will take part in a series of tests to develop tyre specifications for 2020. Only Renault and Haas will not participate.

The first test will be held on the Tuesday and Wednesday following the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The 2020 F1 season is slated to be the final appearance for F1’s current 13-inch tyres and wheel format before its is replaced by a new 18-inch specification. Last year Pirelli, which has been F1’s official tyre supplier since 2011, extended its contract to be the sport’s official supplier of tyres until the 2023 championship.

  1. I was wondering how Pirelli will do their own testing with the 18 inch wheels since the new suspension system does not exist yet, it seems they want to start as early as next September but haven’t found a car yet.
Is there any incentive for the teams to develop a new suspension system before the regulations have not even been voted? And does Pirelli receive the car for free?

    1. I don’t know why they are changing the wheel sizes, such an expensive manouver when the wheels and tyres look the best in years. They will just make the cars look like prams. I think they should only be changed when f1 goes electric.

  2. So red bull get 3 days while Renault and haas get no days. That is unfair in this day and age of limited testing even taking into account that the teams can’t change setup, any track time is beneficial, just look at the 100km filming days.

  3. Do you have to get tickets to watch tyre testing? At Silverstone
