All 20 drivers have revealed their helmet designs for the 2019 F1 season.

Daniel Ricciardo has produced one of the most striking designs for the new season. Having split from Red Bull he has revealed a new pink and blue look which he described as “funky” and “artistic in a modern way”.

Ricciardo isn’t the only driver to have gone pink. Following his switch to Racing Point, Lance Stroll has adopted the team’s pink colour scheme which both its drivers have used since the team’s cars changed colour to match sponsor BWT two years ago.

Lando Norris has brought his familiar blue and bright yellow colours from the junior categories into F1 while Antonio Giovinazzi, the only Italian driver on the grid, carries his country’s tricolour.

Robert Kubica has also incorporated his country’s flag into the design of the helmet he will use for his first F1 race since 2010. Danil Kvyat, who also returns to the grid this year, has revised his design with bolder red colouring. Team mate Alexander Albon, another of this year’s rookies, his picked out orange and blue colours.

Here are all the F1 drivers’ helmet designs for the 2019 season:

Lewis Hamilton

Valtteri Bottas

Sebastian Vettel

Charles Leclerc

Max Verstappen

Pierre Gasly

  1. For me, the Renault guys have the best to helmets (very different styles, but I quite like them both, maybe Ricciardo’s a little bit more) and after that it’s the Mclaren drivers’.

  2. Fantastic set of helmets this year.
Standouts: Daniel, Russell, Albon, Sebastian, Giovinazzi, Norris and Hulk.

Stroll and Norris–were their helmets designed by the same person? The initials are very similar !!

    1. Norris does his designs himself, I vaguely remember seeing a video where he gave a sneak preview of the helmet he was working on for last season.

      1. Norris’ initials subtly form his number four through Gestalt law of reification. He knows what he’s doing.

      2. Norris’ lid is designed by MDM Designs

  3. Only view of the helmets I want to see is from the top. That’s all I see in the car anyway😜

    1. @waptraveler

Yes! That is the view that matters. I’m disappointed Merc are so nearly identical. Red Bull are close too. It will be challenging to tell which is who based on helmets. I guess numbers matter more anyway.

I really did like being able to distinguish the cars drivers based on helmet.

Ricciardo’s helmet sure stands out, but I don’t like it

That being said, I do like Kvyat’s new helmet. There is something unusual about it.
Good: Kvyat, Raikkonen, Albon, Bottas, Sainz
Vettel and Gasly’s helmets are generally good designs, but the yellow and matte blue respectively don’t work for them. magnussen’s helmet looked better with lighter colours

    Bad: Stroll, Ricciardo, Perez

  5. Too much of red/black combinations on grid. Daniel made a statement with his one, disappointed with Hulk – going full team colors not the best idea, should’ve go green, it’s so easy decision and such great combination with his last name. Woulda kill it.

  6. Whizzing through them I get a lot of red. The only ones which stand out for me are Bottas’, Seb’s, Dan’s, Hülk’s and Lando’s. Maybe Giovinazzi’s if you can see the green :-) Is this because red is perceived as being a fast colour? ;-)

It definitely feels like Dan is breaking free from Red Bull!

  7. These seem to fall into three categories:

The standouts: Bottas, Ricciardo, Hulk, Sainz, Kvyat, Albon, Giovinazzi.
A bit “meh”: Hamilton, Vettel, Leclerc, Verstappen, Gasly, Magnussen, Stroll, Russell, Kubica.
A mess: Grosjean, Norris, Perez, Raikkonen.

  8. I like kvyat and Kubica, they are functional. too many of the others are trying too hard. Ricciardo’s looks like a mess, even though I like in Australia and support him.

Top 5 for me this year are Ricciardo, Giovinnazzi, Vettel, Kvyat, Hulkenberg.
Most bland is RoGro once again

  10. Surprised no-one’s mentioned KMag’s, personally I love that. My favourite alongside Leclerc.
Hulk’s I don’t quite like as much as the last 2 years but is still very good.
Ricciardo I love and hate it simultaneously.
I don’t like Stroll or Kvyat; Grosjean and Gasly’s aren’t that good either; and the rest are alright.

    1. I want to like K-Mag’s, but I think it is a step back from last seasons design.

  11. Well done to Renault and Alfa Romeo for not messing up the helmets with an unbearable amount of sponsorship logos – and fortunately all their drivers have pretty good designs in my opinion so they didn’t go to waste.

    1. Nothing to do with aesthetics, though: neither have an impressive sponsor portfolio

  12. personally Dans, Hulk, Giovinazzi, Bottas all have decent designed helmets i fon too many are all lines that dont work on a small space making them to much
Landos is quite a nice design as is Carlos and sebs
again alot of red and as for lance its just got nothing to distingish it out apart from being plain pink and a blue band
but hey we dont get to see them that often clearly, so what matters really its just a helmet, the numbers on the cars are more to distingish who is driving

  13. Giovinazzi and Hulkenburg for me..
Can’t understand why Seb has ruined his clean simple design by adding the weird florescent color

Ditto. Sainz’s is okay too, although it’s not very distinctive. After a couple of years where we seemed to be returning to simple designs, they’ve gone all fussy again.

I’ll give Dan kudos for trying to stand out, but I don’t like it. Looks an advert for a late ’80s sitcom.

  14. DR definitely has the best helmet design although Albon’s is a standout as well. Stroll’s helmet looks like Ocon’s, though.

  15. Absolutely love Ricciardo’s I’m so glad it’s assymetric because the right side is a bit meh on its own. The pink and green are very bright and the lettering gets lost (I also wonder what it’s supposed to mean) but the blue and the black along with the angled green at the bottom from the front really balance it nicely. I wonder how it will look on track.

Hulk Vettel and Giovinazzi I also really like. Sainz, Norris and Albon next, MAG, RAI…

Rest are pretty average in my opinion.

  16. For me, the order is Magnussen, Bottas & Hulk.

  17. looks like a kiddies class got hold of some paint and some haribo. I don’t suppose we could expect anything as memorable as Hills rowing club or James Hunts old school colours

  18. Rics looks like he fought his way out of a cupcake factory!

Strolls couldn’t fit in more if he tried.

  19. Awesome: Kimi, Gio, Kvyat, Albon,
    Good: Seb, Hulk, Carlos, Romain
Not very good: Charles, Max, Gasly, Checo, Robert, Kevin, Bottas
Horrible: Dan, Stroll, Ham, George, Norris

  20. Carlos Sainz has the best one, a classic mix of the early 2000’s. As if you put Räikkonen’s McLaren helmet and Alonso’s Renault helmet together.

  21. I’m amazed how Vettel manages to mess a so neat design! Still, it is the least offensive to the eyes alongside Sainz’s.
The rest is just a freakshow.
Props to Ricciardo though, what a *****y design.

  22. Can anyone came up with list of brands of helmets per driver, please?

  23. I struggle to like any of them, Ricc’s looks like a 80s cake decoration gone wrong. Sainz was better last year. So much generic swooshes and slashes nothing is really standout design that really says hey thats … when they whizz by. You would never mistaken Cevert, Stewart, Lauda, Hunt, Senna, both Villeneuve’s, Coulthard, Hakkinen, Button etc for anyone else on the grid. These designs are too busy and complex to make a impact from the grandstands or flashed by on tv imo.

    1. Agreed, way too fussy…… needs to be instantly recognisable. You could add Piquet and even Barrichello to that list.

      1. @WarfieldF1 for sure & there are few more to add to that!

        1. Well said. The helmets are supposed to be their trademarks. These designs are all confusing and uninspiring, looked like the same studio just tried to put 8 different layers and styles in every helmet. The only ones that I think are more or less recognizable are Giovinazzi and Kvyat’s. Vettel one is also becoming a classic, but every season it gets more polluted. By the way , Watson, Coulthard , Brundle and Peterson’s were also great .

          1. Ps: and Ricciardo’s helmet looks like Valentino Rossi design from the 2000s

  24. Ricciardo’s is cool mainly because it looks different but objectively it’s a bit of a mess.

I like Bottas, Hulkenberg, Norris, Kvyat, Albon, Russell & Giovinazzi’s.

Not keen on Hamilton, Leclerc or Grosjean’s but everyone else’s is mostly meh.

  25. Only Ric, Hulk, Norris, Giovi and Vettel have striking designs.

All the other helmets look the same because the designs are too busy.

  26. Maybe its just been too long since the last race, but I am totally digging almost all of these helmet designs. And the image of all 20 helmets at the top is just getting me silly excited for this season!

And a special shout-out to Lando Norris for using negative space to get his number in his initials.

  27. I really want to like Daniels design, as it is refreshing to see a helmet without fast stripes, but, it is just too ugly to like it.

I really like the design from Daniil, Antonio, Sebastian, Kevin, Valtteri and Nico. Reminds me of the iconic helmets of the ‘90s, but with a modern design.

The absolute worst: Checo, Lance, Lando, Romain, Carlos, George, Robert and sorry Daniel, Daniel.

  28. hulks and gios looks stunning i think i like hamilton’s red colour but overall i love max verstappen’s the most just for the fresh colours

  29. Kimi’s got it going on.

  30. Hulk’s is the best, easily.

  31. So Max Verstappen has shifted to Schuberth. So Red Bull no longer has a deal with Arai helmets I guess. Max is the second of the Red Bull F1 driver family to have shifted from Arai to Schuberth this season. Daniil Kvyat was the first.

  32. asymmetric helmet designs! what are they thinking?!
