    1. Gasly’s failure to get past Kvyat even with significantly fresher tyres, though. Embarrassing, very embarrassing.

      1. What a waste of the seconds RedBull seat !!

      2. yes but, as ever as cars get quicker racing gets worse, more speed more aero, they tried with this new wings, Ross Brawn said it be even worse without the new rules, but ultimately giving teams bigger wings is a bad idea. Kvyat raced well and got the better strategy, Albon was embarrassing Kvyat

      3. @jerejj

The Toro Rosso’s were mighty in a straight line. Their speed trap times were second to none. I always knew it would be difficult for Gasly to pass him, but a Verstappen would have been able to pull it off.

    2. LeClerc is new wingman what a stupid team.

      1. Ferrari strategy terrible for both. Pitted VET too early and then should have pitted when VER passed. LEC probably stayed out too long and then should have pitted late to get fastest lap.

        1. Should have pitted VET for fastest lap, but obviously that would have upset him too much. They could be 2 points closer now.

          1. When they put LEC on the hard, I was thinking VET was on a two-stopper. That would have been the smartest thing to do, but who said they were smart?

      2. Based on Sky, who make no secrets that they hate Ferrari, particularly Croft, Hill and even Martin who’s more focused in drilling Vettel. LeClerc should’ve pitted for the fastest lap, 1st race, 1st bad strategic call for Ferrari.

        1. At the time LEC was faster, they should have pitted VET.

          1. There was some mechanical problems with that car(based on complaints on radio), LeClerc should have pitted for that 1 extra point towards constructors title.

      3. Team orders already to keep Vettel ahead?

        1. yes, LeClerc was told to hold station as soon he was .3secs behind his teammate and more than capable of overtaking just on speed alone.

        2. That was very clear and very embarassing.

        3. You seem surprised. I thought it was obvious when Binotto said that they would favour Vettel in the early part of the season and Leclerc had openly admitted he’d play #2.

Such a waste of Leclerc’s talent, and such a waste of that #1 seat on Vettel. God knows what Ferrari is thinking.

    3. Great result for Bottas, RB looks quick, Ferrari was a big disappointment…

Should I feel sorry for Riccardo?

      1. Ric really unlucky, I guess the new lower wing and that exact piece of track, destroyed the wing. People always downplay their team on winter testing, it’s fear of too high expectations. Ferrari always have top testing times but I saw a bit of testing on f1 tv, merc looked tremendous, and everyone knew Rb with a slightly better engine would leapfrog Ferrari.

    4. Great to see Bottas starting off this season exceptionally well, last year he was a bit of a wasted seat. I guess seeing Ocon around their garage didn’t sit well with the finn.

      1. @gechichan – good point. Yeah, I think Ocon had to force that grin at Toto as Bottas crossed the line :)

        1. @phylyp

Lol.. That moment where Ocon put on his best fake grin and slow clap while sitting next to Toto was hilarious.

    5. Dear Mercedes,
You don’t need Ocon with a fake smile in your garage. Please send him over to RBR.

    6. As Max said, this was the best result ever for Honda in the V6-Hybrid era. I am really amazed at the performance of that Honda system. I can’t be sure, but I got the impression it is better than the Ferrari hybrid system.

      1. Yes indeed, and on top of that this was never a RedBull track like Monaco, Singapore, Mexico, etc historically are… To finish so close to Lewis (albeit on a slightly different strategy) is very encouraging.

      2. I wouldn’t be getting ahead of yourself and saying that bc even if they are close on power you don’t know if they will last as many races at that power as a Ferrari. Also I think we all can see that RB chassis is a great car and makes the Honda maybe look better. I’m very happy that it’s all working for RB bc F1 needs more top teams. Let’s all see what happens a few races in. Just like people saying Ferrari are done are not very smart bc it’s only the first races and teams have off weekends

    7. Looks like that Ferrari, have still not learned, to stop controlling, what should have been a different result. Leclerc is Seb’s bad dream.

      Power unit. hmmm…

    9. I must have done a leap into a parallel universe or woken up in Bizzarro Land. Have read through all the posts and reports and can’t find the expected Stroll bashing rants. What the heck is going on.??
At least Hass and Grosjean have held onto some of the same consistency that the Australian race is famous for.

    10. How come people last year called Ferrari out for not having team orders and now this year they do it and they are evil? Also Merc told BOT not to try for the fastest lap but told HAM to do it.. why don’t anyone have a issue with that? I don’t think either things a bad thing but you can’t win with people ever

    11. Is a chart with top speeds available? I want to see the difference of leclerc with softs and hards

    12. It is a great start for Valtteri Bottas. I am a great fan of Lewis Hamilton and I think Valtteri will need a lot of motivation to continue in this spirit. I am not worried because it is “THE END THAT MATTERS”. Generally the race was wonderful.
