  1. I will 0robanly say this again but -Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who cannot appreciate how good a race this was – should leave the sport behind and just go watch Scottish football.

    1. Probably even

    2. @ahxshades I couldn’t agree more with you.

  2. Frankly annoyed by Hamilton constantly in the ear of his team. I agreed with Chandhok, stop pandering to him and tell him “sure, we can pit and you’ll finish 5th, or we can stay out and win, up to you”. He must have a short memory, with 2015 not so long ago. The team may have given him the softer of the two available compounds but the choice was made and they had to stick with it.

That said, another good drive by him; did everything he needed to do and managed the tyres well.

    1. He was the one driving the car and was telling what the car was giving to him… Would you rather like to hear him say what a great strategy guys, these tyres are rocking and I m on fire? He was probably inches away from disaster! And no one knows how these tyres will behave past their life expectency… So give him some slack for driving at the rugged edge..

      1. In my opinion Hamilton’s radio messages added to the drama. Otherwise we would have had no idea of the dire strights he was in with his tires. Ironically his ‘situations reports’ may have contributed to Verstappen’s frustrations and Max’s decison to take that gamble towards the end.

Hamilton’s race engineer sort of contributed to the Hamilton’s anxiety by informing him of Verstappen’s extra engine boost.

I suppose in the post-race analysis Mercedes will admit they made a mistake puting their drivers on Mediums. The rest of the field knew the Harder tires was the right choice after pitting so early. Also Bottas’ attempt at the fastest lap proved the harder tire was fast enough.

    2. Lewis said after the race that he was never going to pit and give up track position- he would have finished or crashed out. It’s doubtful that any other current driver could have won on those 60 laps old tyres. Freaking amazing drive.

      1. An eventful race for Monoco – that said Verstappen made it so. Before the race everyone was saying Verstappen stood the best chance of breaking Mercedes record of 1/2 finishes. Well he did, but not as anyone could have imagined.

His risky pit release ended up costing Bottas a place. Had Red bull not taken that gamble they would for sure have had 3rd position, and may have faired better against Bottas for 2nd.

BTW Did anyone catch the radio message which all but gave Verstappen the green light to take a punt and send one up the race leader?

  3. For the first time this season that the Williams-drivers weren’t the last two runners out of the ones reaching the chequered flag.

    1. Progress!

  4. The Honda PUs are looking good… Even in the Toro Rossos.

  5. Didn’t see the race, so I’ve come here to view the results etc.
Where is the other McLaren? Or did Sainz not start the race?

    1. @nickwyatt

Sainz finished a solid P6. Mclaren are coming back.

  6. @amg44 Thanks and ‘Good’.
The BBC has a different set of results with Sainz actually shown in sixth.

  7. I saw Bottas on the podium and other news outlets report him finishing third, not 5th as shown here. Did I miss something?

  9. Looks like Sainz is missing from the table @keithcollantine
