In the round-up: Alexander Albon says his experience of Silverstone is limited despite it being his home race.
What they say
I’ve driven there less than probably any other F1 track in Europe! I think it’s one of my ‘home but not home’ tracks.
We’ll see, in the pure high speed we’re quite strong. So I’ll be interested to see if we can come back stronger.

Teams lobbying to bring back last year’s tyres and Toto Wolff’s reaction to it are two sides of the same coin, says Tristan:
I was annoyed to see the complaints about the tyres, and even more annoyed to see it still being complained about from the other side now as if last weeks result changes anything either way. What does it matter?
Everyone knows F1 sucks right now and that it would until Bernie Ecclestone’s contracts came to an end. The only thing that matters is getting it right for the future. If the teams focused even half as much on making F1 the greatest it can be for us as it does on getting the greatest advantage for themselves, things would be looking a lot better and these kind of articles wouldn’t exist.

Goodwood is awesome. I live in the states, so I’ve never been but I watch the time trials on youtube each year. Looks like a lot of fun. Adrian Newey is driving his 1990 Leyton House this year.

Well, realistically it can’t be fully set in stone until at least the release of the first provisional race calendar as a whole, i.e., how could/can the date of ‘one’ race be set separately from all the rest/before the rest?

What are the expected temperatures in Silverstone going to be like? If it’s going to be extremely warm come the weekend, I feel like we could potentially see another close race, as the amount of time that drivers spend on full-throttle could mean Ferrari is stronger here. If they gain 0.5s on straights in circuits such as Paul Ricard, that should be even more in Silverstone. They’ll gain 0.5s seconds alone in the flat-out zone between Luffield and Becketts.

@mashiat 22, 23, and 21 C for practice, qualifying, and race day respectively at present although things can change given how many days away the GP weekend is, but at the moment, doesn’t look like it’s going to be as warm as twelve months ago when the highest ambient temperature achieved was 30 C on each of the three days of competitive running.

Re: COTD. That’s exactly the problem, isn’t it? No team is willing to look at the bigger picture because it might mean they will lose something.
Are there any other sports where the teams/competitors are so involved in the regulatory processes?
