In the round-up: Haas team principal Guenther Steiner sees no problem with Red Bull renaming Toro Rosso even though the team’s ownership hasn’t changed.
What they say
RaceFans revealed yesterday Toro Rosso is seeking permission to change its name to AlphaTauri. Steiner expects teams will support the change:
I think it’s neutral. I mean it doesn’t do anything bad to Formula 1. It has been done before, changing of names. We just had one last year, Force India to Racing Point.
I think we will find agreement. We all know Red Bull is a big part of this sport. They’ve got two teams here. If for them it’s better to change names, because sometimes you need to change things, you cannot keep on always doing the same because then it gets old.

Comment of the day
Should Toro Rosso change its name to AlphaTauri?:
I rather like Alpha Tauri, though admittedly it doesn’t have quite the ring to it that Toro Rosso did. I wonder with this change it will change the way the teams are run? Will it remain a junior squad like Toro Rosso has always been, or will ‘Alpha Tauri’ be more independent?
Either way I honestly was going to be getting a Toro Rosso shirt as I like the colours and am fond of the team but I guess I won’t now will I!

If Lewis hasn’t had difficult teammates, what can be said about Schumacher’s achievements? Whatever his teammates’ skills were, they weren’t ever even allowed to challenge him! But that gets overlooked more often than not…

Hamilton had 2 strong teammates, he surely beat them mentally and arguably on track as well. Max keeps going at that 2nd mercedes seat. Winning in the benetton ford helps.
Inventive way to wreck ferraris b team. Reverse grid races are going to be a massive collusion between b teams and their A counterparts.

I like Max but there are times when he needs to be quite, Lewis has beaten 3 WDC winners in the same car while Max’s strongest team mate has been Danni Ric …. and I mean no disrespect to DR.

Schumacher was fast no matter who he had as a team mate. Yes there were times that they were quicker than him and Ferrari switched them around to protect his points in the championship. Oh wait a minute, sounds just like what Mercedes has done for Lewis. You have to remember that Ferrari always had a clear number one in the past, that was just how things were done. A good driver can win a championship with one team, a great driver can do it with two. So it’s no fluke that Lewis and Schumacher are in that same league no matter who their team mates were.

– Well, you can still do that even if it wouldn’t be up-to-date relevant beyond the end of this season anymore.
