The third round of IndyCar’s official iRacing Challenge is among the top Esports races taking place this weekend.

A total of 31 drivers – the biggest field the series has assembled so far – will participate in the race on the Michigan superspeedway. Ryan-Hunter Reay will join fellow IndyCar champions Josef Newgarden, Scott Dixon, Simon Pagenaud and Will Power in the series which now features every IndyCar champion since 2012.

NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jnr will also make his debut in the series. Australian Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin won the last round for Penske, while Sage Karam took the opening win in the series.

Torque Esports’ All-Star Series will also continue, at Sebring. Emerson Fittipaldi, Jacques Villeneuve, and Jenson Button and Juan Pablo Montoya are among this weekend’s competitors in the Legends Trophy.

    1. I’m surprised there hasn’t been more talk of the Australian Supercars Eseries on this website. Wednesday’s event was the best of the lot of them from what I’ve seen – it has all the regular drivers, the same broadcast commentators and a good simulation platform in iRacing (which is more than can be said for Formula 1).

There were times I could have been fooled that I was watching the real thing, although clearly not the 10 car pile up at the start of race 3!

    2. For me, it’s tedious enough to watch the real Indy spec-series, but to watch a virtual spec-series is an ask too far.

    3. Last race was a bit of a revelation to me, superb track, some good ongoing battles right down the field and a great strategy unfolding through the 2nd half the race by the winner.

I really have enjoyed the Indycar iSeries. The racing was been close and the driving standards have been acceptable.

    4. The GT Rivals Esports – GT World Challenge America 2020, run on Assetto Corsa Competizione, has given 2 great races for the past two weekends. Might want to watch the highlights on YT and consider including it in the Esports calendar.

      The coverage is really professional.
