Magnussen for me. That car has no business beating a Ferrari and the McLarens. Shame about the penalty.

  2. Gonna give this one to KMag. Made the correct call with his team to pit for slicks at the start (penalty notwithstanding), kept it on track in the tricky conditions, then did his best to maintain his pace, manage his tyres and hold off the faster cars behind him where he could. A bit sad to only claim 9th (10th after penalty) after all that, but that flatters the Haas performance and might be one of few opportunities they can score points this year.

  3. Stroll – great qualifying. Spent the first half of the race mixing it up with Merc and Red Bull. Kept a Red Bull behind all race. Was never troubled by midfield cars. He realistically couldn’t have done any better.

Bonus was getting to laugh at all the fans like me who said he didn’t belong in F1.

Even though he isn’t my DotW, I certainly have him in my top 3 and it feels good to be able to declare that given all the negativity he attracts.

  4. Has to be Hamilton, really. Not a fan of his but that doesn’t matter, nobody could hold a candle to him once Bottas messed up his start. Big thumbs up for Magnussen as well, way quicker than Grosjean and drove a flawless race. Also quietly impressed with Latifi, not a fashionable choice but he did really really well in the tricky conditions until the team let him out into the path of Sainz.

As for Verstappen – yes, he had a decent race but 99% of the time his crash before the race would have caused a retirement and it was unacceptable really, so that counts him out for my vote.

  5. Weekend? Easily Hamilton. Not a foot wrong here at all.
Driver? Still Hamilton, but challenged by Magnussen. The Haas, even with a successful strategy, has no business being in the 10.

  6. Both DOTW and DOTD: LH.
Re the latter: an honorable mention to LS.

  7. I gave it to Lewis Hamilton as Driver of the weekend.
Lance did very well and Daniel too.
Kuddo’s to Max and Vettel very good race but not perfect weekend.
