In the round-up: Daniil Kvyat says Honda have some minor areas to work on with their power unit but does not believe they are far behind their rivals.

What they say
Following Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto’s claims their rival engine manufacturers had also lost power compared to last year, RaceFans asked Kvyat whether he feels his Honda is less powerful than last year:
For sure we didn’t have a dramatic drop in power compared to last year. I don’t know if someone else maybe did. But us we didn’t.
For sure it would be nice to have more. It seems like maybe there is a couple of guys who seems to be a bit quicker in the straight line than us at the moment, especially in qualifying.
But there was no dramatic change or competitiveness from us. There are a few things to tidy up by Honda. But I didn’t see anything dramatic.

Comment of the day
News Silverstone will add luxury accommodation next to one of its corners was greeted with dismay:
Silverstone is one of the greatest tracks but also one of the most unwelcoming places to go.
With this now taking one of the best spots away it really will feel like spectators are unwelcome visitors in someone else’s garden.

Lol, It’s the engine mapping as you notice every new spec they have problems to calibrate. You would think just copy the old one but more powerfull engine that isn’t going to work. It’s fine tuning to the extreme.
Maybe Keith should make a article of enginge mapping what it does…

I’ve just had a poke around that website. It’s chock-full of unsubstantiated and just plain made-up conspiracy theories (I need another shower). What that particular article seems to be saying is that due to affiliations of those companies with Nazis in the 1930s-40s anyone who is working for those organisations worldwide today therefore supports Nazi ideology and is culpable for the wrongdoing. Now, if you accept that argument you must logically extend it to every and any other country and commercial entity in the world that has ever been connected to this kind of act. And if they are actively campaigning against the oppression of human rights then they should be condemned as hypocrites.
I would argue that – rather than ‘shut up’ – he needs to keep doing what he’s doing and more people (especially people in his position) need to should loudly about human rights. I will never be sick and tired of it and I see no hypocrisy.

You’ll find significant issues with most large white owned companies that are of that age or older. What they do and say now is more important, the opposite of ‘shut up’ is what he, they and all of us need to do.

Odd that Kvyat is saying he doesn’t notice a big drop in power. Weren’t Honda supposed to have made a big step forwards? He should be noticing a big boost in power then really.

They are doing PR to try keep Honda in F1 beyond 2021, otherwise they are screwed with all the bridges burnt already.

The big step up they made was more to do with packaging and centre of gravity than actual hp, so Kvyat is being accurate to say he hasn’t noticed a big power drop, nor seemingly a big boost either. Their pu is performing better for them in how much more improved it’s integration with the chassis has become.

Enlighten us, and tell us what bridges RBR burned?
Renault, and……………..
(and then ask yourself the question, why would RBR settle for the 3rd (Renault) and 4th (Ferrari) best engine in an era that’s all about the engine?)
If Honda leaves, which I’m now sure they will, RBR/AT will leave to unless they get a Mercedes engine.

They only will a merc engine when merc itself leaves F1.
Then the playing field is leveled.
