Williams carrying message of support for NHS at Silverstone

Williams is carrying a message of support for Britain’s National Health Service at this weekend’s British Grand Prix.

The team’s FW43s, driven by George Russell and Nicholas Latifi, will run with the slogan “thank you NHS and all key workers” on each side of its cockpit throughout the race weekend.

The team said it is “carrying a very special message at our home race” this weekend. “To the entire NHS, and all key workers, we say thank you.”

The Covid-19 pandemic has prompted many gestures of support for the health service in Britain. During the height of the lockdown, large numbers of British people participated in weekly rounds of applause for the NHS on Thursday evenings.

Russell has carried his own message of support for the NHS on his crash helmet since the season began and also highlighted them in his social media presences.

In April Williams’ on-site occupational health manager, Su Chantry, returned to the NHS to assist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford during the pandemic.

F1 is holding its first of two races in Britain this weekend. Silverstone is hosting both the British Grand Prix and the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, marking the seven decades since the world championship began at the track in 1950.
