  1. Leclerc and Perez will exchange positions in race pace?

    1. I wouldn’t bet on it. Ferrari have brought some upgrades which seem to be working well, plus the colder conditions seem to favor them as well.

Just look at China 2012: Everybody thought the Mercedes would be dropping down the field on Sunday (both, Rosberg and Schumi were starting from the front row). But then Rosberg was dominating the race and sealed a comfortable win in the cold conditions.

  2. What happened to Hulk? I only watched Q3.

    1. Just didn’t have the pace. Only did 4 laps, was half second off Q2

      1. @burden93 thanks. Not bad though, no practice, different steering wheel, different car. At least they had his seat from before.

        1. @broke84 yep anything apart from 20th would have been a miracle! Hopefully can look at the data overnight and have a strong race tomorrow

        2. @broke84 Yes, different car as he uses Stroll’s car this time around, but the steering wheel is actually Checo’s. I know as I noticed from his onboard that the DRS button (purple-colored) is on the top-left corner. Stroll has it on the right-hand side of the display.

    2. In the circumstances it was a good effort. Being dumped into the car in Q1 was a big ask, he did a solid job.

      1. Considering that I could put it into 20th position as well it really wasn’t that solid. Maybe hill get the podium he’s been looking for the last 10 years though.

        1. But would you be able to set a time within 107, @darryn ?
          I doubt it…
Saying that anyone could make 20th is a huge simplification

  3. Fantastic from Leclerc. He was already decisively quicker than Vettel last season, but he has stepped it up again this season. He is now dominating Vettel in a manner comparable to how Raikkonen was dominated in 2014 or 2017. And for someone who is only 23, that is seriously impressive.

    1. I think it is more that Vettel just can’t perform well in this car. I think Leclerc is only slightly better than last year. He still needs to cut down on the amount of incidents he has though. He’s caused his own retirement twice as well as vettel’s one of those times.

I think lecrec needs to be given the credit he is due.. if it was the other way around… People would be raving about how vettel is hammering a hot young prospect ..or if it was max beating vettel like this people would be saying see how great Max is ( off course Max is top class) … Long story short I think lecrec is definitely a top 3 driver in the current crop of drivers along with max and hamilton…

@mashiat does anyone really believe that Vettel is 0.7 seconds slower than Leclerc? The way things are headed he might even be 1 second faster soon.

      1. Agreed!! I have zero invested in VET. In fact I don’t really like the guy BUT… it’s so obvious Ferrari are done with him. Lec is a tenth or 2 faster than LEC, at best!

      2. @freelittlebirds If you are suggesting inferior equipment just to slow him down on purpose, I don’t necessarily buy it. Ferrari may keep Vettel out of meetings about the 2021 car, but they need every point they can get right now, they will lose out on substantial money if they can’t even maintain a top 6 finish. Leclerc will probably get upgrades over Vettel, but I would do that even if Vettel was sticking around, as Leclerc is clearly Ferrari’s best hope of salvaging a top 6 finish in the WCC this season.

@mashiat well, this car is special in that it can score pole position in most races. So Ferrari are being forced to score low points and run the car slowly. Obviously Ferrari are not going to finish every race in P10 with 15 points at the end of the season just to please the FIA. So it’s obvious that Ferrari is honoring the settlement because Vettel can’t even reach Q3 while Leclerc is allowed to do the impossible whenever they need him to and bring in a lot more points than a P9,P10 combination would by ending up in P3-P6. It would have been nice of Ferrari to alternate the results but obviously they are not going to be willing to do that.

  4. Imagine a title fight between the two best drivers (Verstappen and Leclerc) in equal equipment. Hopefully we get it one day.

    Also, get in there Bottas.

  5. Fantastico Charles Leclerc
