Max Verstappen has been fastest in two sessions of slippery free practice but will anyone else find grip overnight to compete with him?

Verstappen and Charles Leclerc looked strong in both sessions but Alexander Albon was also able to lead a lot of second practice. With times jumbled by lack of grip, however, it would be foolhardy to rule out Mercedes or best-of-the-rest AlphaTauri from being able to make a jump forwards.

The track at Istanbul Park is evolving rapidly, second practice more than five seconds faster than the first and one more session will lay down rubber before qualifying tomorrow. There’s a close-to-zero chance of rain but several drivers have said the new track surface would be faster in a wet session and grip and wear by race day remain, essentially, complete unknowns.
