    That is not the complete story: Max set the first run in Q2 on harder compound and went out for 2nd run on softer compound because his time was not fast enough. This is common practice. Then there was a red flag dus to a Haas driver crashing in closing minutes and Max couldn’t complete his fast lap. (He set quick S1 and s2 times as expected)

    So just very unlucky.
    He was never beaten on merit be either gasly or Albon .
    Simply amazing
