This race shows how quickly things can change in F1. After the first Bahrain race, RP trailed Mclaren by 17 points, and Renault a further ten, but this race outcome helped RP to reclaim 3rd and also altered the gaps between these teams quite a lot.

The fact that Perez is closer to Bottas, even after missing 2 races, than Bottas is to Hamilton is really making me question why one keeps getting extended deals in the best team/car and the other is heading for a sabbatical…

Just 80 points behind is indeed surprising. I wasn’t aware of that is not only did Perez missed 2 races but Bottas has 1 more than Hamilton and still has a bigger gap! Incredible…

It is incredible but you must take into account the points difference between 1st and 2nd/3rd is bigger than that between 4th and the other mid-pack scoring positions. So Lewis winning 11 races will create a much bigger gap to everyone else including his team-mate even if the team-mate is scoring regular podiums. But yeah – Bottas will probably want to forget this season as quickly as possible.

Albon. P8 with a renault, mclaren, ferrari and racing point between him and his team mate. That looks poor, espacially with ferrari sitting in p6 in constructors

That’s also 13 drivers on the podium this year…
2 Mercedes
2 Red Bulls
2 Racing Points
2 McLarens
2 Renaults
2 Ferraris
1 Alpha Tauri
If George drives for Merc again next week, will it be a third Merc on the podium…
Or have I just jinxed it?

The Merc B team move to third after some very convenient Mercedes errors after they wrapped up the championship… Amazed nobody else is seeing that…
