  1. There can only really be one.

    1. Mika Salo. He always delivers.
F1’s problems just keep getting bigger and bigger.

      1. yeah, good point about that guy @peartree.

  2. Noone really stood out in this one, I voted verstappen though, he didn’t put a foot wrong for the whole race

Looking forward to the driver of the season vote.

    1. I agree @napierrailton. Verstappen did rise through it all to deliver both on saturday and suday though. I think he will win the poll deservedly. I considered both Norris (great qualifying, solid race) and Ricciardo (meh qualifying, solid race, lovely FLAP) but nah.

In the end I decided to vote for Perez. He showed he had the speed in qualifying. He even ventured out to help Stroll get some tyre feedback. And he overtook a decent chunk of cars, was homing in on the Ferraris when the car gave up on him. With that my slight hope of seeing anything interesting this race died (AbuDhabi :-(). And then he went to console his team for having had 2 engine failures in 3 weeks. And the way he held himself at the interviews after the race also showed his class.

  3. RIC. Opposite strategy and finished well above expectations.

  4. Verstappen had the best weekend so he gets my vote, on Sunday I think Ricciardo was very good and made the most of what was handed to him.
Watch out for him and McLaren next year.

  5. If Verstappen outdrove the fastest cars on the track by shear force of will and talent delivered from Olympus then Albon, as a mere mortal, deserves a mention.
Having said that Ric gets it by a nose for stealing the fastest lap.

  6. Verstappen at this time got 2\3 of the total votes!

    1. People also liked vettel, 2nd highest with 4%, I did too and I hate his performance in 2020, so says enough, maybe some chance to finish on points if not pitting with a losing strategy (how were they expecting him to pass leclerc, since he’d end up behind him)?

  7. Hardly any mistakes from anyone despite the exhasution they must have been experiencing athe end of this really dense season, very solid drives from all of them, hard to pick a standout performance. And despite the great achievement of Verstappen, I voted for Gasly for his decisive textbook passes on Ocon, Kvyat and Stroll that ran in at least similar level or even better cars and were on similar tyre strategy.

  8. I voted for Max, but by then just over 100 people had voted and 65% of them chose Max. Winning a race in the second or third best car on the grid has to mean you’re close to being unique, especially when there are two drivers in the best car.

Nearly went for Max, but voted for Lando. Had a really strong weekend and seemed to get the most of out his car. Whilst Max didn’t put a foot wrong all weekend, Lando is usually challenged a lot more by Sainz than Max is Albon, and compared to how he normally fairs against his team-mate (it’s always close) Norris did very well as he had a convincing edge. Excellent qualifying in P4 (beat Sainz in the team-mate head-to-head), turned it into a P5 finish ahead of his team-mate and enough points to help the team bag 3rd for the constructor’s championship.

  10. went for Verstappen because, of course, it’s Verstappen the best driver of the weekend.
look at the race of the Kimi, though. Didn’t put a foot wrong, shows the way to all the youngsters behind him and both Ferraris. the guy is 41 and still rock solid. these votes should have a second part where the winner is excluded, I guess.

  11. Norris is certainly one of tomorrow’s champs. I think Ferrari picked the wrong McLaren driver for next year.

Kimi beat the works Ferraris in what is probably the slowest car on the grid.Even if Leclerc had kept his car on the track and not kept wandering off lonely as a cloud, Kimi would still have given him that masterclass in defensive driving. He crossed the finish line 9 seconds ahead. Sweet.

    1. George is future of F1. He will take the baton from Lewis and keep “God save the Queen” playing in the podium for many years. The Belgian will be playing 4th fiddle behind his fellow countryman, the Monegasque and the Brit. 🇬🇧

  12. Hello, no one has mentioned Lewis. Could it be he is past his peak? Already?

No. He slowed down as usual once he’s already won the title and tried to give the B driver a win. Said B driver wasn’t fast enough to beat Verstappen so we got the result we got.

    2. Awww bless you Roddy. This would certainly cure your insomnia if true. Sleep well 🇬🇧

  13. Danny Rick for me.
Why give it to the guy who started on pole and went on to win the race without any problems! If that’s the case Lewis should have got it eleven times this year.
Mercedes said they turned the engine power down so the RBR team may have had the best car this weekend. Just look how close Albon was to Hamilton at the end.

    1. This! 1000 times!!!

  14. DOTW and DOTD: VER. No one else really stood out in the race.

  15. Ricciardo is turning into Alonso outdriving his car

  16. I think Alonso may get a shock next year with the young guns who have appeared since he left two years ago. Not least from Ocon who is now getting to grips with the Renault and getting closer to Danny.

    1. Yes. I also believe Alonso is bad enough to be beaten by Ocon.

  17. Way to go Max!

  18. If in doubt, vote for Kimi. Fastest Ferrari-powered driver is enough for DOTW this weekend.
