AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost has confirmed every member of his team has received a Covid-19 vaccination in Bahrain.

The team will remain in the country following the opening race of the season to receive their second of two doses.

The Bahrain government has offered all Formula 1 personnel the opportunity to receive a vaccination against the coronavirus. Tost confirmed that every member of the team received a first dose on Tuesday.

“Scuderia AlphaTauri have been vaccinated on Tuesday and we will stay one or two days longer after the race for the second vaccination,” said Tost.

“Health, as you know, is the most important factor,” he explained. “As a team principal, I am responsible for the health of the people. Therefore we did this vaccination.

“And I say many, many thanks to Bahrain that they offered us this possibility because, in Europe, I don’t know how long we would have to wait until being vaccinated, especially in Austria and Italy and so on. So we are more than happy.”

When asked about their own teams’ policies in regards to the vaccine, Aston Martin team principal Otmar Szafnauer and Alpine executive director Marcin Budkowski both confirmed their respective team personnel had been offered the vaccine on an individual basis.

Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz Jnr confirmed yesterday they have also taken advantage of the Bahrain government’s offer and received their first doses of the vaccine.

Alfa Romeo team principal Frederic Vasseur is currently self-isolating in the country away from the circuit after having tested positive for the coronavirus before he was due to travel to Bahrain.
