  1. Alpha Tauri gives away points to Mclaren and Ferrari.

    1. Yes, Alpha Tauri have a car that is at least close to the pace of McLaren and Ferrari. Pierre Gasly is unlucky not to have 20+ points. I think they could regret these first two races come the end of the season.

  2. Mercedes vs Red Bull
    McLaren vs Ferrari

    Things are shaping up amazing!

  3. F1 – 4 teams
    F2 – 6 teams :)

  4. Remember when they introduced the gimmick bonus point for the largely irrelevant fastest lap statistic & those who for some reason like the idea said it wouldn’t have any impact on the championship as it was only 1 point?

Well this is the clearest indication that it could indeed be a pointless artificial gimmick that may indeed decide a championship one day.

It’s an utterly irrelevant stat. Pitting late in a race for fresh tyres as Perez did in Bahrain isn’t worthy of a bonus point & today Lewis got it largely as he was the fastest car that happened to have use of DRS. It simply isn’t a statistic that deserves a point that could decide the championships & result in teams playing silly games in title deciders.

It’s a Liberty gimmick to cater for the Americans who give bonus points to everything. Just look at NASCAR & how getting a point has zero meaning given how freely they are offered up for virtually doing anything.

F1 had a point for pole and for fastest lap for decades.

      1. Maybe you was watching indycar then Keith becuase you are well wrong lol. Btw im glad they do have it Ham deserves to be leading even with his mistake many would of gave up beached in the gravel not Lewis. Bottas in lewis position does gets 5th maximum. It shows the difference and Lewis is still the top do he and max are 1A and 1B the rest are a bit behind.

      2. It did for a few years & then they dropped them as it was clear they were a silly metric to awards points for.

But regardless of the past it has no place in the sport now because it’s an utterly irrelevant metric that simply doesn’t warrant a point.

Can anybody seriously argue that Perez deserved the extra gimmick point in Bahrain for the been the slowest of the top cars & ending up with a large enough gap ahead/behind to be able to pit for soft tyres with 2 laps to go?

It simply isn’t deserving a point & never will be.

Also look at how it made the last race of a Formula E season a complete joke where the 2 title contenders crashed out on lap 1 & then spent the rest of the race several laps down coming in & out of the pits making setup changes both trying to get the fastest lap to win the championship. It was a joke that took the focus off the actual race that was going on that day & something which even the most diehard Formula E fans felt made a mockery of the series & the same will be true when F1 faces a similar situation.

      3. There had never been a point for pole, and they only awarded a point for fastest lap in the 1950s before its current introduction.

    2. Lewis’s car was the fastest car? Still this comedy is going on… Bottas had the fastest car too, Perez had as fast car as Max… Adjust your spectacle power or change your option or remove the tin foil hat and the blinkers.

      1. Think you’re the one with the blinkers buddy. Hamilton was faster even with damage at the start. He was also catching Max before he went off. Horner admitted Merc have better tyre wear too. Max went off in qualy trying to beat Hamilton’s pole time.

You’ll seen at the end of the season what the real story is, but ignorant people like you will still think they are right even with the truth in your face.

        1. That’s just the natural speed of Sir Lewis, pal.

  5. Kimi kept the hungry Alpiine pair behind him for half a race, and they both had DRS. A stellar drive for Alfa.

  6. Perez picked a horrible day to throw away a Top 5. Even a small lead in the WCC would have been a big psychological boost. Max might even be the WDC leader if Checo was in position to slow down Hamilton’s late race charge.

Bottas (and Hamilton) wrecking was a rare and golden opportunity that Red Bull pulled zero benefit from.
