  1. Ocon, Ricciardo, and Sainz were the biggest surprises slowness-wise. Perez, to a lesser extent.

  2. Keith, you might want to check the predictions countdown clock, its showing time left to predict, dont know whether its like that for everyone

    1. If anyone is thinking of pulling a fast one dont forget that predictions are time stamped;-)

  3. boy this max kid is speeed

Shame for Bottas outqualifying Hamilton and still starting behind him. Ricciardo’s pace compared to Norris is pretty shocking, it doesn’t seem to be getting better.

  5. Impecable job by VER, making a difference.

HAM doing mistakes, throwing away a PP.

    Poor RIC….

    1. Lewis was already 2 tenths off before the mistake. But I see that you have to ignore it because it doesn’t fit your narrative.

      1. Se he not only did mistakes, he was also driving poorly
        Fair enough

        1. You got it. Exactly like Verstappen did for the past 4 years.

          🤦‍♀️

  6. Why is Ricciardo 15th and not 13th?

  7. Two things coming to mind here:

    1. Maybe ALO was actually right, if only too early: Honda’s approach has proved to be the only one able to compete the Mercedes’s engine. It maybe needed a different integration that what McLaren tried, but it seems ALO was right in the end. He was wrong however on the time it would take, and maybe on how he handled it and got too impatient.

    2. Any driver, when under pressure, will eventually make mistake, whoever it is (from LAU, SEN, PRO, SCH, HAM, VET, VER you name it). That’s a sane thing to have competition again, at last!

    1. @js In Honda’s case, I think that the difference between Red Bull and McLaren is that RBR were/are working together with Honda and they provide details for chassis etc., while with McLaren they were developing the engine independently from the team. I think this is the key reason of why McLaren-Honda marriage failed.

      1. @f1-fan I totally concur with you on this!

  8. Perez lost too much time for such a short track.

    1. well he’s never been a great qualifier but usually makes up for it on sundays

  9. Sad to see hamilton struggling to beat bottas on raw pace during qualifications. If they were on the same team with max, the situation would be very dire.

    1. Why sad, competition is good, besides Hamilton is very much beatable if the cars are on equal performance. Bottas has been playing a wingman, I guess he is tired of doing that now and becoming more racey, but he has a tendacy to switch off too, while Lewis is more consistent.

  10. The outcome at Alpine will be 100% clear.

  11. Russell starting P10 with choice of tires. Surely some points available for him tomorrow.

  12. I think the grid is incorrect from place 13-15.
It should be RIC, VET, GIO. Or did i miss some more penalties?
