I wish I could see a drone’s eye view of this incident. From the ground cameras and in-car cameras, it looks to me that Copse is a ‘late apex corner.’ If I’m right, both cars are not yet at the apex of the corner, which could explain why Hamilton is not hugging the white line yet. In fact, almost every writer is using the word apex incorrectly. The white line is not the apex. The apex is the point in the curve when the driver should clip the white line while accelerating out of the curve.
I need to see an overhead view of Copse to know if they were at the apex.
